I’m a community-based birth worker and maternal health advocate with a deep commitment to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey with care that is informed, calm, and centered on dignity. My work is rooted in both lived experience and years of supporting families through community initiatives focused on maternal wellness and emotional support. I also lead a maternal mental health initiative that brings mothers together in meaningful ways which build connection, healing, and shared knowledge across generations. I am especially passionate about improving birth outcomes and ensuring families feel informed, respected, and supported in every decision they make. My approach to birth is grounded in trust in the body, education, and advocacy which help parents feel safe, seen, and empowered no matter how their birth unfolds. I bring strong skills in emotional support, birth preparation education, and continuity of care, along with experience working in community settings that center Black maternal health and holistic, culturally responsive care. My goal is always to hold space where families feel both protected and empowered as they step into parenthood. Outside of birth work, I bring a warm, down-to-earth energy and love finding joy in the small things, whether that’s roller skating, music that sets the mood, or laughter that makes a hard day feel lighter. I believe joy is part of healing too, and I try to carry that into every space I’m in.

Carla is a true God send! I'm so grateful to have found her. I was searching for a doula because I needed someone to go into the labor/delivery room and advocate for me should things not go as planned. With her help and guidance, I was able to labor successfully at home, managing my own pain, and she was right there with me to welcome my little one into the world. After leaving the hospital, I struggled tremendously with breastfeeding. She knew how important it was to me so she wouldn't let me give up. Thanks to her wisdom and helpful tips, I successfully nursed my little one for a yr and a half! Thank you again!!

My doula Carla Michael was literally heaven sent. She’s so calm and informative in her approach being a doula is more than a job for her she truly cares. She made my birthing experience so beautiful and peaceful. She found funding resources so I could have my daughter at home after I had a bad experience with my doctor. When I needed someone to talk to or had questions regarding my pregnancy she responded quickly. She was there during my whole pregnancy, birth and continued to support me after I had my daughter. During labor she assisted me with breathing techniques, assisted me with walking set up my water birth and was just an overall support. (She was almost about to deliver my baby as well) After birth she made me food, helped cleaned, help me breastfeed whatever I needed she was there. If I ever have a second child I would definitely have her as my doula the second time around.

If I could give Carla 10 stars, I would! She was absolutely amazing at both births of my children! She genuinely cares and would consistently follow-up to see how she can assist. I am grateful to God for having been blessed with someone as loving and knowledgeable as her because the homebirth experiences wouldn’t have been the same without her! I highly recommend Carla Michael for anyone that is looking to have a caring, experienced doula or midwife present throughout their homebirth process.

Carla’s doula support was monumental in my birthing journey. Every step of the way, she played an instrumental role in supporting my body, my baby, and my safety. Carla deeply respected my wishes and ensured my needs were met with the highest standard of care. She made me feel seen, heard, and truly valued throughout the entire experience. Carla was incredibly hands-on and guided me into motherhood with confidence as a first-time mom. She also provided thoughtful education and guidance on what to expect during postpartum recovery and offered helpful support with breastfeeding, which made the transition after birth feel far less overwhelming. With professionalism, compassion, and dedication, she went above and beyond. I truly could not recommend a better birth worker.
