I am also a student midwife and currently working towards my license to become a CPM. I have 3 crazy beautiful boys, 2 birthed in hospital, and my last a planned homebirth. My name is Carisa Niemyer and I work as a doula and doula trainer in Colorado SpringsI found my way into doula work through the birth of my first child. My story didn't go exactly how I wanted and my baby had her own story of how she wanted to be born, as these babes often do. But after my delivery I felt so empowered and supported and loved my story. Much of the reason this was true was because of the support of a doula. That experience led me into the world of birth work and I have now been a doula for 18 years, working in both birth and postpartum, as well as training new doulas at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland OR as well as in my own training organization here in Colorado Springs. I’m a DONA-certified birth doula with over 30 years of experience in family advocacy and early childhood development.
