I had a very traumatic birth for my first child. Catholine made this experience so much more memorable and meaningful. Catholine is unmatched in how she holds space and provides comfort. The graceful and confident way that she approaches every single moment is indescribable. She's right there with you and making sure you have every thing that you need and more. She is also amazing at counter pressure and helping you get through it. One contraction, one moment at a time. She provides the love and care that every mom, new or existing, didn't know she needed. Im so overjoyed that I get to look back on this experience and smile. My heart will be forever full. Thank you so much!

Fiona Mortensen

2 years of experience

Hi, I’m Fiona Mortensen, founder of Little Pines Doula. I’m a certified postpartum doula, student lactation counselor, and a mom to two little boys under two, proudly supporting families throughout the Greater Seattle and Tacoma areas. My passion for birth and postpartum work began during my time as an EMT in King County, where I had the unforgettable experience of helping a mother deliver her sixth baby. That moment opened my eyes to the beauty and privilege of supporting families during such a powerful transition. Since then, I’ve welcomed my own children—first via cesarean and then through a VBAC—experiences that have deepened my appreciation for the importance of informed, compassionate care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. With a background in emergency medicine—including work on a NICU/PICU transport team and as an ER Technician at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital—I bring a steady, grounded presence and a blend of clinical knowledge and heartfelt support to my doula practice. At Little Pines Doula, I offer non-judgmental, personalized care to meet each family’s unique needs. I especially love helping new parents build confidence and connection as they adjust to life with their baby. Outside of doula work, I love exploring new parks with my boys, relaxing at the beach, and enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. At home, you’ll often find me curled up with an embroidery project and my cats, or sharing laughs and playful moments with my family. I believe joy and humor are essential, and I bring a light-hearted, down-to-earth energy into every family I support. I’m also passionate about learning and am always deepening my knowledge in birth, postpartum care, and lactation—not only to better serve my clients, but because I genuinely love continuing to grow. I truly believe the postpartum period can be one of the most beautiful and transformative times in a family’s life. It’s an honor to walk alongside families during this tender season—and to bring warmth, wisdom, and a few smiles along the way.

Having Fiona as my postpartum doula was one of the best decisions we made when preparing for our little guy’s arrival. Fiona guided me through decision paralysis, every question or concern, and exhaustion; she did this with care, grace, compassion and patience. She was very professional (prompt, communicated expectations and boundaries clearly) while being personable. I needed someone just like this while my little family navigated this tender time of postpartum. There was never a moment of doubt or worry with Fiona as our doula. I knew my little dude was in great hands while I rested. I can’t recommend Fiona enough! Our 2 months with her was amazing and made my postpartum journey so much easier and peaceful.

Let me begin by saying Catholine was an angel sent to me because she came at just the right time. This was my first pregnancy and I was in a foreign country with no family around. I had no idea what to expect about childbirth, but with her we started the journey together and she supported me every step of the way. She stood up for me and helped me ask questions during my clinic visits when I felt unheard. She kept me calm, especially during my epidural when I was extremely scared. Even after delivery she visited me, brought things to help me was better, and shared many helpful learning materials. I am forever grateful for her kindness, support, and dedication. Sincerely, Agnes Njeri

We cannot thank Cathy enough for being our rock through two separate pregnancy and birth journeys. What truly sets her apart is her incredible ability to bridge cultural differences with grace and ease. From our very first meeting, her cheerful personality made us feel instantly comfortable and understood. During the most intense moments of labor, she wasn't just a support person; she was a powerful advocate who ensured our voices were heard and our wishes respected. Having her by our side for both of our children’s births brought a sense of peace and continuity that we will always treasure. If you are looking for a doula who is knowledgeable, kind, and deeply relatable, Cathy is the very best.
