I would like to do a home birth using Tricare insurance coverage upfront only. There is a possibility of postpartum/ night nurse assistance at a later time. Not entirely sure of a "plan" beyond that. Unfortunately, I'm not starting my journey where I'm ending, but attempting to get the ball rolling and start gathering some options to set up interviews when we have hard dates. Planning on giving birth at Prisma Health Parkridge with midwife group. Budget is around $800-$1000 total. My birth plan mainly is to have as little medication as possible. However, I have gone two weeks over for both previous pregnancies and had to be induced both times. I did end up getting epidurals with both. I would like someone who can give me lots of ideas for managing pain during labor. I have some ideas but I always seem to run out of coping strategies. Would like DONA certified doula.

I plan on immediate skin to skin contact, no cleaning/bathing, delayed cord clamping, delayed shots and eye ointment. I am planning for a hospital birth with an OBGYN. I have never worked with a Doula and do not know the cost. My insurance may cover some or all of it. I have prior history of obstetric violence and nonconsensual procedures resulting in severe injuries and trauma. I am aiming for low intervention vaginal birth but have not consulted an OBGYN yet about the possibility based on the state of my injury recovery. I need someone to help me advocate for myself and make sure that I understand what is happening so I can make decisions based on information rather than fear and pressure. I will also need help with maintaining my boundaries around consent about procedures or interventions.
