Although originally from the Chicagoland area, Kyliah has lived in different parts of the Midwest including St. Louis, MO and Duluth, MN. She is trained clinically as a Social Worker and brings all of her skills of advocacy, empathy, relationship-building, client focused care, and empowerment to her role as a Doula. I grew up helping take care of my aging grandparents. We were always serving them in some capacity whether it was entertaining my grandpa with dementia by working on a puzzle with him, cleaning up the kitchen, or chopping up fallen tree branches on the property. When I am not working I love to volunteer to serve at church, sing in the choir, paint, and cuddle with my kitties. I also enjoy spending time with my family and with my best friend John who, like me, has high functioning autism. We enjoy getting to know each other’s quirks and understanding things about each other that most people wouldn’t get. Words are not his strength, but I enjoy learning to use my emotional intelligence skills to read through the lines when he can’t put what he means into words. Being that person that can understand him in a way most people can’t means the world to me. These are some of the things that have kindled my passion to work as a doula. Hello, my name is Tanya. I grew up on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Antigua and migrated to the US over a decade ago to pursue my college education. I’m a Graduate of Georgia State University where I obtained her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Health. I am passionate about women, maternal and child health. I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula and Placenta Encapsulation Specialist.
