Hello 🙂 My name is Marchael, and I am from Pomona, California. My journey into becoming a doula stem from my deep love for natural birth, witnessing the beauty of babies being born, and providing support to women during pregnancy and labor. Before pursuing formal training as a doula, I had the privilege of attending three hospital births. These experiences sparked a profound interest in natural childbirth and fueled my passion for supporting mothers during this transformative time. I began following midwives and doulas on social media sites such as YouTube and Instagram, truly immersing myself in their knowledge and practices. It was during this time that I realized I was drawn to this field. A close friend asked me to be her doula and without hesitation, I said yes. That experience solidified my desire to pursue formal training and turn this passion into a career. My background as a nanny for babies aged 6 weeks to 2 years, in addition to my time working as a travel nanny, has given me valuable experience in caring for infants and supporting families. I’ve always been naturally welcoming, positive, nurturing, and supportive. Qualities that I believe align perfectly with the role of a doula. These personal attributes, combined with my hands-on experience and love for natural birth, have confirmed that this is my true calling. I am thrilled and look forward to helping your family navigate the beautiful journey of welcoming your little blessings into the world.

Gina Valo Background checked · Sep 2026

Hello and congrats! I'm Gina Valo, a certified labor doula (Childbirth International and ProDoula) and the founder of BirthingKind. My role as a doula is to make sure you have access to the information, resources, and support you need to feel comfortable and confident throughout your pregnancy and birth experience. Our philosophy is simple: Your Body. Your Baby. Your Birth. My practice is rooted in evidence-based information, which serves as critical foundation for informed decision-making. I lean heavily on my academic and professional background in healthcare data to stay up to date on the latest research in maternal health. Before becoming a doula I worked as a healthcare technology executive and White House Presidential Innovation Fellow at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. I earned a Master of Management in Clinical Informatics from the Duke University School of Medicine and a B.A. in Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan. I like to balance research and data with a healthy dose of empathy and emotional intelligence so that we can arrive at decisions that work best for you. I would love the opportunity to meet you and see if we’re a fit.

From our very first introductory call, we knew that Gina was the right fit for us. Throughout my pregnancy, Gina’s extensive expertise and knowledge gave my wife and me the structure, tools, and education that made us confident in our decision making and how to ask the right questions of our providers. Using her knowledge of DMV OBGYN practices and hospitals, she helped us make the decision to switch practices at 30 weeks, which was my second best decision during pregnancy, after hiring Gina. When I was admitted to the hospital with severe complications at 34 weeks, she was by our side helping us digest information from multiple nurses and doctors, ask questions, and make the decisions that worked best for my health and our baby. Our beautiful boy was born at almost 35 weeks and after a lengthy hospital stay for me and a week in the NICU for baby, Gina helped us get set up postpartum to best take care of our boy. Before birth I would probably have trusted Gina with my life and during my birth she was a vital resource and partner to me and my wife as we navigated some truly difficult decisions and traumatic circumstances. We will always be deeply grateful to have met Gina and had the pleasure of working with her.

Birth is not a personality trait. It's practice, clarity, and support. I'm a second-generation birthworker and Full Spectrum Doula with nine years of experience. I walk with families from conception through postpartum, and my practice is rooted in trauma-informed care, Black and Brown resilience, and care for all bodies and identities — including size inclusivity and LGBTQ+ affirming support. As a Childbirth Educator, Community Lactation Educator, and Maternal Health Consultant, I meet you where you are with high-touch, personalized care. As a yogi, I weave mindfulness, breath-work, and movement into care, helping families find balance and resilience in real time. Whether you're preparing for birth, navigating postpartum, or a partner trying to make sense of it all, you're welcome here. Let's nurture this journey together.

We are beyond grateful to have had Andrea by our side. She prepared me so well for birth and has continued to support us postpartum with her knowledge, experience, and thoughtful guidance. During labor, she was an incredible source of calm and strength. She empowered us to make our own informed decisions, always making sure we understood our options. She worked seamlessly with the doctors and nurses while also advocating for our wishes. She seemed to know exactly what I needed, even before I did, and communicated with the medical team when I couldn’t. Andrea made us feel safe, supported, and truly cared for throughout our journey. We couldn’t have asked for a better doula, and we will always be grateful for everything she did for our family.

Hi, I’m Charlotte! I’m a birth doula and maternal health advocate based in Los Angeles. The word “doula” comes from the In Greek word, δούλα which means “woman who serves” and I live this wholeheartedly. My doula approach is deeply attuned to you. This is your experience. As a 200hr trained yoga teacher, I weave in movement, breath work, and mindfulness, while staying rooted in evidence-based care. I’m research obsessed! I studied at Brown University for college and I am passionate about education and maternal health advocacy. I remain closely engaged with current research and continue my education through ongoing trainings and workshops. I am committed to showing up for my LA community. Alongside my doula practice, I serve as a Client Coordinator at Joy in Birthing Foundation, helping connect under-resourced families with doula support across Los Angeles. I offer pro bono care through organizations like Harvest Home and within the foster care system. Outside of birth work, you can find me with a coffee in hand in Silver Lake, in a yoga or barre class, knitting, or hiking in Griffith Park. I wake up everyday feeling deeply grateful to be a doula and serving the women and people around me in such a transformative time in their lives. I have the deepest appreciation and respect for each person I support. It would be an honor to support you and your family wherever you’re at in the journey. I want to hear about your biggest wishes and dreams for your birth and postpartum experience — it can all be creative, imaginative, and beautiful. Let’s connect!

Charlotte was kind, thoughtful, responsive, hands-on when I needed her, and extremely patient and flexible—beyond expectations. Before I gave birth, in the months leading up to my labor, Charlotte came to my home a few times to get to know me, my home, and my birth preferences. Since it was my first pregnancy, she had many thoughts and suggestions for how to prepare and I found her all around competent and thoughtful. Fast forward to my birth experience. I was in labor for three days, and during all three days, she was there for me exactly how I needed her. For the first day, I labored at home and she was available by phone and text until I decided I wanted her in-person support. Once I asked for her to be by my side, she stayed with me for close to 36 hours starting at home and continuing through the time I was at a birth center. After the second day passed, I made a non-emergent transfer to the hospital due to fatigue and dehydration. During this time, we communicated well and I allowed her to go home and take a nap while I got an epidural and took a nap as well. Crazily enough, she was on call for another birth and even wound up attending another birth while I was in the hospital waiting to dilate enough to push. As this happened we stayed in communication and I felt supported enough by her and my midwives over the phone that I didn’t need a backup doula. On the third day, the stars aligned and she wrapped up at her other birth not long before I was ready to push. She rushed to my hospital, and was not only by my side, but encouraged me exactly how I needed and held one leg while a nurse held my other one as I bore down and pushed my little girl out. TLDR; Charlotte is communicative, capable, sympathetic, and experienced. She was an excellent choice as a birth support person and if you are considering her to be your doula, let this be my letter of recommendation.

Hi, I’m Iliana! I’m a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula based in Los Angeles, and at my core, I’m a student of life. I believe in curiosity, imagination, and the strength of humanity. We’ve made it this far by showing up for one another, especially during life’s most vulnerable transitions, and that belief sits at the foundation of how I approach this work. Before becoming a doula, I spent years working in film and visual storytelling. That background deeply shapes how I support families. It taught me how to read a room, stay grounded under pressure, notice subtle shifts, and honor someone’s story without trying to control it. Birth is not so different. It’s unscripted, intimate, and deeply human. My role is to be present, observant, and steady, allowing your experience to unfold in its own way. In both birth and postpartum, my focus is connection. Connection to your body, your baby, and the people supporting you. I support all kinds of births, whether hospital or home, unmedicated or with an epidural. There is no one right way. I aim to demystify the physiology of birth so the unknown feels less intimidating, while also helping you feel more at home in your body. If you have a partner, I help you move as a team, offering tools for communication, grounding, and nervous system regulation. I strive to be a calming presence you can orient toward if things feel overwhelming. Postpartum, that support continues as you settle into life with your baby and find your rhythm. I’m here to support your story with care, curiosity, and deep respect for how human this season is. :)

I've been a birth doula for 35 years (I started young!) and I am also a childbirth educator. I got into doula work to advocate so that you can have the best birth possible. I am certified in Spiningbabies, the Rebozo Technique and in Acupuncture. I have always said.....this is your baby, your body and your birth and I'm there to support you in however and wherever you want to birth. I want to make sure that your spouse/partner also feels supported and cared for also. I live in Oceanside and serve San Diego County.

My experience with Kym completely exceeded my expectations. It was my first birth, so I was not entirely sure what to expect from a doula, and every interaction with Kym affirmed my decision to work with her. I felt supported by her throughout my journey. There's no way I would've gone as far as I did naturally if Kym had not been present. She was also an incredible support to my partner during the birth experience, and she kept encouraging him to take care of himself as well. One of my favorite aspects of my experience with Kym was the check-ins she provided postpartum. Every day I received a text from Kym asking how I was doing and telling me I was amazing. I felt I could share exactly how I was feeling with her and any worries I had; she met them without any judgment just care and concern. The birth process is incredibly hard, and postpartum in many ways is harder, so I was deeply grateful to have Kym's continued support. I would highly recommend Kym to anyone who is seeking a supportive, knowledgeable cheerleader in their birth journey.

“I’m an IBCLC and Certified Nurse Midwife with an independent practice providing both full-scope midwifery care and comprehensive lactation services across hospital and community settings. My lactation work spans the full clinical spectrum—from establishing breastfeeding in the immediate postpartum period to managing complex feeding challenges such as low milk supply, delayed lactogenesis, post-cesarean lactation, and infants with dysregulated feeding patterns. I have extensive experience in detailed newborn oral evaluation, including identification and functional assessment of anomalies such as ankyloglossia. I integrate these findings into individualized care plans and frequently collaborate with interdisciplinary providers for frenotomy when indicated, as well as provide structured pre- and post-procedural feeding support to optimize outcomes. My approach is evidence-based, highly individualized, and focused on measurable outcomes. I prioritize effective milk transfer, protection of maternal supply, and long-term sustainability of the breastfeeding relationship. My care plans often incorporate structured supplementation strategies—including the use of supplemental nursing systems to maintain feeding at the breast—alongside selective, clinically appropriate use of galactagogues. I place strong emphasis on ongoing reassessment and adjustment to ensure interventions remain effective. I also have experience supporting higher-risk dyads, including late preterm infants, NICU graduates, and cases involving maternal endocrine or perinatal factors impacting lactation. Working across both inpatient and community environments has given me a clear understanding of care transitions and the gaps families encounter after discharge, allowing me to provide more cohesive, continuous support. My midwifery background strengthens my ability to assess the full maternal–infant dyad and identify contributing factors early, supporting more efficient and durable lactation outcomes. I’m confident practicing autonomously and value strong collaboration within multidisciplinary teams, with a consistent focus on delivering practical, clinically sound, and patient-centered lactation care.”
