About me

Birth never gets old to me. It’s always beautiful, surprising and full of hope and promise. Over 23 years of being a doula, I’ve seen so many amazing people become parents and new babies join us- some of whom are grownup now! My philosophy is that, you know yourself, and I believe in your ability to make the choices that are best for you and your family at your birth- my goal is to support you during the process, answer questions, help you make informed decisions when presented with unexpected circumstances and help with practical solutions to issues such as a baby who isn’t in an optimal position, social/emotional issues and needs, supporting your partner and other children and animals and more. I bring tens of thousands of hours of time spent with people in labor worth of knowledge to you and your birth, and whatever you choose- epidural, unmedicated, induction, cesarean, etc makes no difference to me, I will support you through whatever you choose, help you achieve your very best outcome and make sure you are safe and validated throughout. You are all my life’s work, and I’m grateful to be trusted with your care.

My husband and I could not be more grateful for Dana. As our birth doula for our first child, she made the whole experience more approachable, manageable, and enjoyable. Even having an emergency C-section, Dana was an essential part of the day. She narrated the operation to me and advocated for me to my doctors in the difficult hours that followed. She had thorough and knowledgeable answers to all my questions, starting at four weeks before delivery and continuing up to six weeks postpartum. It’s truly a life changing decision to contract with her—don’t hesitate!

Dana was an incredible partner in our birth experience and post partum recovery/adjustment. She is knowledgeable, compassionate and competent in advocating for your wishes but knows when to offer her own advice based on her vast experience. Our family is lucky to have had her attend our birth at Hartford Hospital and afterwards in our home, showing us how to care for our new baby (and ourselves!). During labor, she helped reposition the baby and gave me the confidence to get through each phase, working well with the doctors, nurses and my husband the whole time! We will hire her again in a heartbeat.
