I would like to give birth at home but live in a basement apartment so I may need to find a birthing center. I have medicaid insurance and would love someone covered but am willing to pay 4.5k for the midwife and doula. I want a no-intervention birth with Ina Mays style of positioning. I'd like to incorporate hypnobirthing as well. Definitely don't want an epidural or to be induced.

Planning to give birth at Englewood Hospital. I have an ob gyn but would like to have additional and more extensive support for prenatal care. Longer visits, more blood work and emotional and physical support leading up to birth. Also after birth I would love the support of the midwife. I’m looking for a midwife that has a holistic approach to birth and pregnancy.
We are a couple in a difficult situation. Ting (20 years old) lives in Middletown CT and has one more year before finishing her Bachelor's degree at Wesleyan University. She hopes to do this final year while being pregnant. She would be giving birth during her last semester, and probably right around the time of her thesis project. Dan (36 years old) has just accepted a two year contract teaching theater in Myanmar, and will be flying there to accept this position in late July. Because of this, he will only be able to provide financial assistance and emotional support from afar. Ting and Dan's relationship is strong and stable, and assuming the plan moves forward as described, their financial base will also be reasonable. We would likely have a support budget of up to 1,000 per month. Since this is our first pregnancy, we don't really know what kind of services we are looking for, but in person emotional and wisdom support will be needed, as well as all of the resources for completing a safe home birth. The fact that Dan can't be around, and that Ting is so young and working simultaneously on her degree will mean that she will likely need help with nutrition and general counsel. I think this entails a doula and a midwife at least. Ting is currently in Iowa spending a week with Dan before he ships off to Myanmar on the 19th of July. She having a pretty difficult time managing the physical changes which come with the first trimester. She will return to Middletown in August. Ting is insured through Wellfleet (Cigna), so ideally we will find someone licensed through them to help, but if we need to pay out of pocket, we are happy to analyze that possibility.
