Throughout my 10 years of nursing and 7 years of lactation consulting experience, my work has spanned various U.S. regions, NICU and well-baby units, and included extensive home visits, allowing me to effectively support mothers from diverse backgrounds. ALBA intentionally focuses on fostering equity and understanding across different family backgrounds. We work with community organizations, enabling tailored support and resources to meet the diverse needs of breastfeeding mothers.

Dawn is knowledgeable and vastly experienced, yet she explains things in a way that still feels really approachable. She offers support for breastfeeding without a hint of judgment, creating a space that meets you wherever you are. Her guidance is both compassionate and practical, which is where I have found others to really fall short. She makes me feel empowered, confident, and truly cared for!

The only reason I was able to breastfeed as long as I did, was because of Dawn. Her compassion, her honesty, and the knowledge she offers changed me and inspired me to keep breastfeeding, even when I wanted to quit. But Dawn does not judge and she is there to help you no matter what stage of breastfeeding you are in. Thank you for everything you did to support me in my journey!

Dawn was exactly what we needed at a time of high stress. Her knowledge and empathy were incredibly beneficial. Highly recommend!

Dawn taught me a class on infant CPR and choking. She is passionate about her work as an RN/IBCLC and her experience and empathy for new moms is evident just from meeting her. I highly recommend calling Dawn for any new mothers out there.

Dawn's guidance and support were pivotal during my postpartum recovery. The lactation counselors that visited my hospital room following delivery gave conflicting advice; some were kinder and more helpful than others, but the overall experience felt overwhelming and all too brief. Dawn made herself available for any and all of my concerns, no matter how trivial I thought they might be. She reassured me that I was doing my best and not to get caught up in what I "should be" doing according to the printouts I was discharged with (which made me feel inadequate), or what I googled / saw on social media. She is a great listener; she doesn't *tell you* what to do but instead offers guidance and options for what works best for you. Her compassion and dedication at such an emotional and frankly difficult time in my life were so needed, and I am beyond grateful for her care and attention.

Dawn is a great support during a time that is challenging for most moms. She is easy to talk to, open minded, and thoughtful. She makes you feel confident that you are already the best mom for your baby!

I just have to shout out how truly amazing my IBCLC, Dawn Maddox, is. ❤️ She’s been an incredible breastfeeding coach and has helped me so much while I was studying for my IBCLC exam. I honestly couldn’t have done it without her support, guidance, and kindness. I love her so much—she’s truly one of a kind! Thank you, Dawn, for everything! 🥰 #Grateful #IBCLC #BreastfeedingJourney #LactationIsOurLoveLanguage

As a stressed new mom, Dawn truly saved my sanity and gave me the confidence and support to breastfeed my tricky eater! My daughter and I have made it over a year of BF and Dawn has been an invaluable resource as we went through refusing to eat, high lipase milk and everything in between! Couldn’t recommend her and her services more!!

I was having the worst time trying to pump so that my daughter would have breast milk at daycare - the pump hurt, I wasn’t producing enough, and it was so difficult. Dawn came to my house, assessed the situation and determined that I was using the wrong size flange and what size I should be using. Game changer - no more pain and much more production! She’s incredibly professional and caring and never made me feel that my troubles were my fault or not important - she validated my experience and helped me find a solution, and I’m very grateful.
