The cost of a midwife in El Paso, TX can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in El Paso, TX, depends on your specific insurance policy and provider. Many insurance plans, including Medicaid in Texas, may cover midwife services if the midwife is licensed and operates within a network approved by the insurer. Coverage can vary based on whether the midwife provides care in a hospital, birthing center, or at home. It's essential to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm coverage details, ask about in-network midwives, and determine any out-of-pocket costs or requirements for reimbursement.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in El Paso, TX, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Katie Mayeux

5 years of experience

Katie Mayeux is a skilled midwifery apprentice, birth and postpartum doula, folk herbalist, and internationally recognized yoga teacher with nearly two decades of experience in women’s wellness work. She began her midwifery training in a small village in Guatemala, apprenticing with a traditional midwife and ceremonial elder, where she learned holistic birth care grounded in herbal medicine, nutrition, and spiritual support. She subsequently graduated from the School of the Sacred Wild’s yearlong herbalism apprenticeship and has more recently gained clinical midwifery experience as an advanced student through the Maternidad La Luz Midwifery Immersion Program, during which she worked at a high-volume birth center. Katie spent fifteen years as a yoga teacher, which gave her deep insight into the body, breath, and the power of movement. She now uses that training to support pregnant families, helping them find comfort, strength, and alignment throughout the childbearing year. She teaches a prenatal yoga class in El Paso and is currently completing her certification as a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner.

To Say Katie was a huge asset to our birth is an understatement. Katie impressed the entire birth team with over 50 years of experience. Katie is more giving and generous than anyone I have ever met. She takes time to prepare herself and make space for others, instead of jumping in with emotions. She is a safe haven on this journey. She helped me physically more than anyone at my birth. She was there during each and every contraction helping me and compressing my hips. When it was time for the birth she was brilliant enough to catch it on film! She has an intuitive nature around everything in life, and that serves in birth. My husband and I are forever grateful.

Angelika Cuevas

Hello! My name is Angelika, and I’m a holistic birth doula and lactation supporter. I believe women possess the intuitive wisdom to know how to birth their babies and the new version of themselves as a mother. I also know partners are more supportive when they understand that as well. My role is to witness, honor, and remind you of your power through heart-led support from bump to breast.

As a first-time mom, I found Angelika through an amazing event called Village Prenatal that she co-hosted with another doula. I'm so grateful our paths crossed. After the event, I shared some of the struggles I was having with breastfeeding, and she offered to help. Angelika came to my home and worked with me on my baby's latch, my pump settings, made sure I had the correct flange size, and gave me recommendations for supplements to manage my PPA/PPD. She is incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. If you're looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring doula and lactation consultant, I cannot recommend Angelika enough. She made such a meaningful difference in my breastfeeding journey. One of the biggest things I took away from this experience is how powerful it is when women come together to support one another. Angelika didn't just help me with breastfeeding, she helped me feel seen, empowered, and less alone. I will always be grateful for her kindness and support.
