My name is Libby (she/her) and I have been working across the reproductive justice spectrum for the last decade. I serve as an advocate for survivors of violence. I have lobbied around repealing antiquated abortion laws, served as an in-clinic abortion doula in two clinics and been involved in policy work and abortion education with an Indigenous led grassroots organization in Northern NM, Tewa Women United. It is important to me that my role as a doula is rooted in larger activism as well as direct care, because I believe a more compassionate landscape around abortion care will support the individual's experience as well. I am here to help you have the birth experience you want. Whether it is an unmedicated birth, or you get an epidural, you are at home or at a hospital. I am here to support you. I am not here to judge anyone’s decisions or beliefs. My job is to support you in your choices. It is your birth experience let’s do it your way. Im 19 and recently finished getting my certification as a Holistic Pregnancy and Birth Practitioner. I have been a nanny for a little over two years and I really enjoy the work and kiddos. I started with one of the families while they were pregnant with baby number 2 and was able to offer mom the chance to rest or spend 1:1 time with baby and I really enjoyed it. With my recent training I am hoping to use it and get into become a birth/postpartum doula. I want to offer my services and a lower price while I help with my first births and learn what to fully expect outside of the classroom. I feel more connected to postpartum work and being able to nurture the parents, whether that be pre-birth to “nest” for baby, find meals to prep/cook postpartum, basic housework like dishes and laundry and even some potential grocery shopping for those first few weeks when it’s not ideal to take baby out. I like to create a judgement free zone and am open to all styles of life but am more in the middle of lightly holistic and following modern medicine and recommendations but I am ultimately here to support parents decision.

My journey to becoming a mother was not easy. I had two very different and difficult births that taught me a lot about myself and the challenges of childbirth. My first birth was a long and exhausting labor that ended in an emergency cesarean. I felt scared, helpless, and disappointed that I couldn’t have the natural birth I wanted. My second birth was a planned cesarian, I felt unprepared, anxious, and overwhelmed by the intensity of the experience and felt guilty for not trying to deliver naturally. Both of my births left me feeling traumatized and in need of healing. ​ These experiences made me realize that there is a gap in the traditional healthcare system when it comes to supporting mothers during birth. I felt that I didn’t get enough information, education, or emotional support from my providers, and that I had to advocate for myself and my baby. I decided to become a doula to fill that gap and to help other mothers have a better birth experience. As a doula, I offer personalized and continuous support to mothers before, during, and after birth. I help them prepare for their birth, cope with their pain, communicate with their providers, and celebrate their achievements. I want every mother to feel empowered, respected, and joyful during their birth.
