We are deciding whether or not we want to deliver at home or in a hospital but I would like a doula who is muslim or african american and culturally sensitive to my faith.

Hello, I am a mom and lawyer, soon to be living in poway, and due for a c-section with my second on December 18. I am a solo practitioner and am hoping to have some help with the newborn night phase to ensure I am able to function during the day, especially after the first few weeks when I will need to work at least part time to manage existing client cases. My husband is currently on a combat deployment with the Navy. He is supposed to return home before the baby arrives, but there is a chance he will not be here, so I feel a lot of pressure to schedule supports where possible. I am seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced night nanny who can kindly care for my newborn girl while also providing emotional/physical support for me, as I will be having a c section and breastfeeding. I am looking forward to hearing from and hopefully meeting folks who will have availability. I do not expect to need someone the very second we get home from the hospital, since that timeline is hard to predict, but I am hoping to have someone who can step in after Christmas and for about five weeks after (5 nights a week). Who the care is for: Our family. I will have a newborn daughter (due date around December 2026, possibly November if she arrives early) and I have an 8 year old son. I will be recovering postpartum and want to stay focused on bonding with the baby without getting pulled into household tasks. Days and hours needed: Daily, evening hours (roughly dinner time through bedtime), for about 2 to 4 weeks, starting after the baby arrives. Flexible on exact timing, happy to adjust as our routine settles. Extra duties: - Warming up dinner - Prepping my son's lunch for the next school day - Checking that his homework is done - Light cleaning: vacuuming kitchen/dining area, tidying common rooms - Taking out trash and recycling - Running a load of laundry as needed - Occasionally watching the baby while I shower - Help restocking postpartum/baby supplies, freezing pumped milk and washing pump parts, and grabbing nursing snacks/drinks I keep on hand My husband will be home during these hours too. We have Anthem Blue Cross insurance through LAUSD, and we are currently trying to confirm our doula benefits and which providers may be covered in-network. We also found that National Doula Network appears in-network under our Anthem plan.
