I am very newly pregnant for the first time and doing research to understand what my options are for birth and postpartum support.

This is my first baby! We are a military family, so all of our immediate family actually lives in CA. They will be coming out for the birth, but I would love to have someone in my corner helping me through things. We also have quite a lot of providers in our office and I feel like I don’t know any of them. I am worried it feels impersonal. I have epilepsy and a positive encouraging mind set is super important for me. I really want someone to advocate for my needs and desires for our birth plan. Additionally, since it’s our first baby, any advice is so welcome. My husband will be going back to work quite quickly after birth so just looking for some guidance. Planning to give birth at Smithfield Hospital UNC. Planned Vaginal Birth with Epidural. TBD on days/hours. The help would be mostly for me but also helping guide my husband through it. I would love for faith to be a large part of labor encouragement. My husband and I are both Christian and would love to labor leaning on God, prayer, worship. Budget TBD, also open to seeing what insurance covers?

Home birth Unsure of budget I have had 3 c sections looking for someone confident and willing to help me have a natural birth at home

We are first-time parents looking for an experienced postpartum doula or newborn care specialist to support us during the first few weeks after delivery. We are both working from home, and our mothers will take turns helping during the daytime, so our main need is overnight newborn care and postpartum support. We would like someone experienced with newborn feeding, soothing, diapering, safe sleep, and helping establish a manageable nighttime routine. Breastfeeding support or experience working alongside an IBCLC would be a plus. We prefer someone with several years of newborn experience, infant CPR certification, and strong references. We are currently exploring part-time overnight care, approximately 3-4 nights per week during the first 4–8 weeks postpartum. Budget is flexible depending on experience and schedule. Our goal is to get enough rest while still being actively involved in feeding and bonding with the baby.

I plan to give birth in the hospital My primary goal is an active, upright vaginal birth with minimal medical interventions unless medically necessary for safety. 1. ENVIRONMENT & LABOR * Please keep the room quiet and the lights dimmed. * I wish to remain mobile. I plan to use a birth ball, squat bar, and walk the halls. * I request wireless (telemetry) monitoring so I am not restricted to the bed. * Please do not offer pain medications; I will request them if I change my mind. No epidural i want a completely natural birth 2. PUSHING & DELIVERY * I wish to push in upright positions (squatting, kneeling, or hands-and-knees). A fan to keep me cool * I prefer to use the "J-breath" and push instinctively rather than being told when to hold my breath. * Please protect my perineum with warm compresses and coached, slow crowning. I really want no tearing 3. IN THE EVENT OF A MEDICAL C-SECTION If a cesarean section becomes completely necessary for the safety of myself or my baby, I request a Gentle Cesarean: * A clear drape so I can see my baby being born. * My hands left free to hold my baby immediately. * Immediate skin-to-skin contact in the operating room. * Delayed cord clamping if possible. 4. NEWBORN CARE * Immediate skin-to-skin contact for at least the first hour (the "Golden Hour"). * All newborn exams and weight checks performed while the baby is on my chest or delayed until after the first breastfeeding attempt.
