Nine years of supporting individuals and families has taught me every person comes into pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with their own story, priorities, and idea of what support should look like. That’s why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to doula care. My role is to understand what matters most to you and adapt my support as your needs and preferences evolve. Whether we’re talking through options during a prenatal visit, adjusting to unexpected changes in plans, finding ways to make labour more comfortable, or simply making space for a pause in the middle of it all, my goal is always the same: to help you feel informed, respected, and confident in the decisions you’re making. Good support isn’t about taking over. Support can be active in quiet ways. Sometimes it looks like breaking down options when things feel uncertain, so you can decide what feels right for you. Sometimes it looks like stepping back so you can focus on what your body and instincts are telling you. My birth journey started almost 20 years ago, with the birth of my own amazing child, whose unexpected breech presentation caused me to shift my birth plans significantly. Over time I have been called to support different parents as they navigate their own journeys into parenthood. My experience has encouraged me to be especially empathetic and supportive of parents who have had births outside of their expectations. Experience has taught me, this is almost all parents.

Hello! I’m Anusuya, a Full Spectrum Doula, blessed to be the mother of two beautiful children aged 18 & 13. I’m someone who brings a calm, steady, and grounding presence, and I naturally extend that care to ensure my support person feels held and supported as well. My favourite part of being a doula is witnessing the moment someone realizes they can do this. There is always a shift when confidence replaces fear, and being present for that transformation is incredibly meaningful. It is also an honour to stand beside families as they welcome new life into the world, knowing I helped create a space that felt calm, safe, and supported. Alongside my doula work, I am an internationally certified Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Instructor, Yoga Therapist, and Face Yoga Trainer. My experiences as a mother of a child with special needs inspired me to become a passionate advocate for families navigating healthcare, education, and community support systems. As a community-based, high-risk doula, my goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-informed support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey. I believe parents deserve access to accurate information, quality education, and trusted resources so they can make informed decisions that are right for their unique families. My role is not to make decisions for parents, but to ensure they feel confident, respected, and empowered as they make those decisions themselves. Beyond my doula work, I am deeply committed to advocacy. I have advocated for improved access to Early Intervention and preschool special education services, helping raise awareness of the barriers families face in obtaining timely evaluations, services, and support. I am passionate about ensuring children with special needs and their families have access to the services, resources, and opportunities they deserve. I currently serve as Vice President of the Brockport PTSA, where I work to strengthen partnerships between families, schools, and the community through volunteerism, parent engagement, and educational initiatives. I also serve as the Brockport Central School District TIES Program Coordinator, coordinating inclusive social and recreational opportunities that bring together students with and without disabilities. Through TIES, I aim to help foster meaningful friendships, leadership, and a sense of belonging for children and young adults of all abilities.
