A doula works alongside you in the prenatal, birthing time, and postpartum. I am a birth doula residing in South Minneapolis. I have a lot of interests and passions that led me to find birthwork. I find it perfectly intersects science and data, bodywork and movement, direct advocacy, and human connection. I love to laugh and cry with you, holding space for your emotions and experiences. I enjoy sharing my knowledge while being curious about everything I don’t know. After completing a B.S. at the University of Minnesota and a stint living in France, I started working as a consultant for our local utility companies, implementing an energy efficiency program for new home construction. By this time I was deep into a yoga practice and took a yoga teacher training at Yess Yoga in 2018. I learned so much and it exposed me to many holistic practices within the 8 limbs of yoga. Meanwhile, my all-female consulting team started expecting. They would come to the office with so much new information and questions after doctor/midwife appointments, not to mention what everyone was saying on the internet! I was so curious about it all! I discovered what a doula was and that people did it as a profession. Not long after I am happy to say I found a doula training and haven’t looked back.

I am a wife, mother, educator, and doula. I love the challenge and beauty of birth. I have decided to follow my passion and calling in life as a birth doula. It is so important that families feel supported, respected, and cared for as they welcome their child(ren) to the world. In addition, those first few weeks after the birth are very tender, emotional, and draining. I want to help lead my clients to positive transitions into parenthood. I am passionate about empowering birthing families to actively prepare for childbirth. Through my own experiences, I felt that there was a gap in labor support between healthcare professionals and labor partners. Many birthing people I have interacted with describe fear and apprehension as they approached their labor. Even more tragically, many birthing families have expressed disappointment or even trauma from a birth experience that felt poorly communicated, emergent, and out of their control. Part of my mandate is to know the limitations of the healthcare system and to educate families to advocate for their own birth using current and evidence-based information. Not knowing what you do not know can lead to overwhelming decisions and out-of-control situations. I also provide experienced, trained hands-on support during the labor to create a consistent, personalized, and safe environment which can decrease the need for medical interventions and increase overall birth satisfaction.
