I am a native Bostonian, with a calm demeanour and an infinite love of babies! My qualifications include being certified maternity nurse holding an NVQ Level 4 certification UK, licensed as a nurse in the US, completing Kraamzorg Dutch (Maternity) and Newborn training in the Netherlands. Certification as a lactation counsellor. Additionally, I am a MBCP Mindfulness Birth Child and Parent Teacher, Childbirth Educator, an infant Sleep Specialist, and hold certifications as a NBO Brazelton Newborn Behavioural Observation Teacher, Lactation Counsellor, Pediatric/Adult CPR and First Aide. I find immense fulfillment in my profession, valuing how each and every family enriches the field with their distinct childbirth and infant needs and experience. My primary objective is to advocate for mindfulness and well-being among mothers, babies, and their families, supporting a smooth transition from pregnancy throughout the postpartum period. Enhancing and supporting parents' confidence and resilience in caring for themselves and their babies.

Makita is very professional caregiver for new borns and babies. She had been a great help for my family when my baby was 4 month old. She is proactive, patient and knowledgable in her field, and even identified early signs of torticollis in my baby. She was the only one that I could trust with my baby alone. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs professional and reliable care support.

Pregnancy, childbirth and new babies have been my passion since I first found out I was pregnant over 16 years ago. My birth and postpartum experiences - both wonderful and challenging - fed my spirit and inspired me to give back to other new parents. This passion has stayed with me through the years as I've worked with families and my own children have grown. I have both LIVED and LEARNED experience with pregnancy, birth, postpartum, newborns and new parenthood. I am excited to help you and your family along your journey of parenthood in an open, non-judgmental manner. From pregnancy through birth and beyond, my support, knowledge, and experience can help you become the parents you know you can be. I would love to help ease the many transitions that a new baby can bring, help you build confidence in your abilities, and provide support for all your new family needs. I look forward to supporting you along this joyful, exciting, and amazing adventure! I am here to help YOU, expecting and new parents, to feel sure of yourselves in your roles by shining light on your own innate intelligence and that of your new baby. I am excited to teach you the basics, the truths, and the skills to confidently prepare for, enter, and beautifully navigate postpartum and new parenthood.

We hired Hilary as our Postpartum Doula and she provided us critical support, care, and counsel from day one of leaving the hospital with our newborn son. I don't know how we could have gotten through this phase without her regular day and night time visits. The breaks she provided us a few times a week were invaluable: leaving our son with someone we fully trusted to catch up on sleep or even run errands. She was also a constant ear for us with all of our new-parent questions: from our baby's health, to breastfeeding, to products. If she doesn't know the right answer, she will get you in touch with someone who does. She is fully dedicated to making sure you have the support you need and are on a good path as a new family. Hilary has a great approach to coming into your home and making everything feel smooth and easy. We are going to miss working with her, and can't recommend her business enough to other families whether it's your first kid or your fourth.

As a doula, I not only bear witness to the birth of babies, but to the birth of parents. I watch in the background as parents harness their strength to unspeakable levels, welcoming the newest, littlest members of the family with emotions that swell and carry the room. As you draw from your inner core strength, physically and spiritually, I am in awe. And I recognize that you deserve continuous support services throughout the first year of your child’s life to ensure optimal outcomes for your beautiful family. Learn more about the principles that dictate Aila Birth Village by clicking here. Aila, pronounced I-la, means “from the strong place”. As such, I am committed to providing you with the support and resources you need to effectively build up your family. My expanded services now include antepartum support, birth support, postpartum support, childbirth education, breastfeeding education, infant sleep consultations, and even a special Back to Work planning program. I believe that you have a fundamental right to experience a beautiful birth as you define it. I recognize that this is a sacred, transformative time for you and your family, and I will treat it with authentic reverence. This means your feelings should be heard, your preferences should be honored, your reproductive rights respected, your heart protected, and your body enveloped with the love and support of your birth team. To this end, I provide you with evidence-based tools and resources that places you and your baby’s needs at the center. No matter the setting of birth - hospital, birthing center, or home birth – and no matter the type of birth – vaginal, c-section, or via surrogate - your birth can be empowering. My hope is that my support is virtuous and exemplary and this is reflected in how you feel during our time together.

I can’t recommend Tanya enough as a doula! She was incredibly supportive, caring, and attentive throughout my entire birth experience, going above and beyond to make sure I felt prepared, supported, and empowered. Tanya provided helpful exercises and tools to prepare me for labor, offered both physical and emotional support throughout the birthing process, and helped me navigate the different stages of labor. She also translated and explained things with the medical team so I could better understand what was happening. Most importantly, she helped me stay focused on my birth preferences and advocated for me when I needed it most. She has such a warm and calming presence while also being confident and assertive when necessary. I had a challenging labor without an epidural, and Tanya’s physical and mental support made such a huge difference in helping me get through it. She helped me feel stronger, more grounded, and more confident throughout the experience. I’m so grateful to have had her by my side during such a meaningful and intense experience. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and dedicated doula who will truly go above and beyond for you, I wholeheartedly recommend Tanya!
