At Goddess Apothecary Birthworker/Doula, I believe every birth journey is unique and deserves compassionate, personalized care. From prenatal preparation through labor, birth, and postpartum, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational guidance to help you feel prepared, informed, and confident. As your doula, I provide continuous support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum so you feel informed, cared for, and confident in your choices. From developing your birth plan and preparing for labor to providing hands-on comfort measures, breastfeeding guidance, and postpartum support, I am committed to helping you create the birth experience that feels right for you and your family. Prenatal Support Your birth experience begins long before labor. Services include an initial consultation, personalized prenatal meetings, and ongoing check-ins throughout your pregnancy. Together, we will discuss your birth preferences, comfort measures, expectations, and any questions or concerns you may have. My goal is to help you feel confident, educated, and ready for the journey ahead. Labor & Birth Support During labor and birth, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support. I use a variety of comfort measures, including breathing and relaxation techniques, positioning recommendations, massage, and counter-pressure to help promote comfort and labor progression. Throughout the process, I remain by your side offering reassurance, encouragement, and guidance while helping you navigate each stage of labor with confidence. Breastfeeding & Immediate Postpartum Support Support continues beyond birth. During the first hours after your baby arrives, I provide assistance with breastfeeding initiation, bonding, and the transition into early parenthood. This immediate postpartum support helps create a nurturing environment for both parent and baby during those precious first moments together. Postpartum Care The transition into parenthood can be both exciting and overwhelming. Postpartum visits provide continued guidance, encouragement, and practical support as your family adjusts to life with your new baby. Whether you need assistance with feeding, recovery, bonding, or simply reassurance, I am here to help you feel supported and confident during the early weeks of parenthood. I had the honor of being her very first doula client, and I truly could not have asked for a better experience. From the very beginning, she was there for me every step of the way. She attended classes with me, checked in with me weekly—and sometimes even daily—and helped me create and manage my birth plan so that I felt prepared and confident going into labor. When it was finally time to give birth, she took control in the best way possible. I didn’t have to ask for anything because she already knew what I needed. She knew my birth plan, she knew what I wanted, and she made sure my voice and wishes were supported throughout the entire experience. One of my biggest goals was to have a natural, unmedicated birth. There were definitely moments when I didn’t know if I could keep going, but because she knew how important that goal was to me, she encouraged me, supported me, and stayed right beside me the entire time. I was able to have the birth experience I wanted, and I will forever be grateful to her for that. As a first-time mom, giving birth could have easily been an experience that made me never want to do it again. Instead, because of the care, comfort, patience, and support she gave me, I can actually say I would do it again. 😂 She wasn’t just my doula—she was my advocate, my support system, and such an important part of one of the biggest moments of my life. What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. A doula does not replace your medical provider but works alongside your care team to help you feel informed, supported, and confident.

Do you replace my doctor or midwife?

No. My role is non-medical. I do not perform clinical tasks, diagnose conditions, or make medical decisions. Instead, I provide comfort measures, evidence-based information, emotional support, and guidance to help you navigate your birth experience.

Where do you provide birth support?

I support families planning home births, birth center births, and hospital births. My goal is to provide personalized support regardless of where you choose to welcome your baby.

When should I hire a doula?

Many families hire a doula during the second trimester, but support is available at any stage of pregnancy. Booking early ensures we have time to build a relationship and prepare together for your birth experience.

What services are included?

Will you stay with me throughout labor?

Yes. Once active labor begins and you request my presence, I remain with you throughout labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period to provide continuous support.

Do you support unmedicated and medicated births?

Absolutely. Every family's birth preferences are different. I support your choices whether you plan an unmedicated birth, epidural, induction, cesarean birth, or are still deciding what feels right for you.

Can my partner still be involved if I hire a doula?

Yes. In fact, many partners find that having a doula allows them to be more present and confident. I work alongside your partner, helping them participate in ways that feel comfortable while also providing guidance and support.

Does insurance cover doula services?

In Virginia, some doula services may be eligible for reimbursement through Medicaid, certain insurance plans, FSA, HSA, or HRA accounts. I recommend checking with your provider regarding specific coverage and eligibility.

How do I get started?

The first step is scheduling a complimentary consultation. This gives us an opportunity to meet, discuss your birth goals, answer your questions, and determine whether we are a good fit for one another.
