My name is Josie Patton. I'm a wife and mom of 4 boys including a set of twins, all of whom I have or am currently breastfeeding. I obtained my CLS in 2021 after the birth of my second son. I had a lot of struggles with my first and although we made it to our goal for nursing it took a lot of work on my behalf to make it happen. I knew then that I wanted to be the person who helps other families in our community that have nursing/feeding struggles. By Design Lactation came to life when I took my step of faith that God had big plans for me to make my dream of helping others come true. I wholly believe that we are designed to provide life and then sustain it after birth. Most women who struggle to breastfeed are not incapable of doing it they just lack support and/or knowledge, I strive to break those barriers to help families reach their feeding goals! What to expect

I help parents who need support in home after baby is born. I usually do 1-2 hour initial consults to check latch, do a weighted feed, discuss issues and troubleshoot. Then from there it's individualized reccomendations (ie. follow up visit, weight check-ins, evaluation for tethers, resources and virtual support or no needed follow-up)

Josie was wonderful to work with, giving practical tips and ideas for the breastfeeding stuggles we were experiencing that I, even though I had previously breastfed my first four babies, didn't know how to deal with. She helped us make a plan to get were we needed to be. She gave us a list of recommended providers to see for my baby's tongue and lip tie (because no sleep-deprived parents struggling with breastfeeding should be trying to figure that out on their own!) I'm so thankful for her help when I needed it!

Josie is such an amazing person, she is so approachable and easy to talk to. She listened to my concerns and offered very practical and implementable strategies to help with latching and my confidence with exclusively breastfeeding and getting off the breast pump.
