What's the Cost of Hiring a Night Nanny in Kalamazoo, MI?

The cost of a night nanny in Kalamazoo, MI can vary depending on several factors such as the nanny's experience, qualifications, and the specific services required. On average, the cost of a night nanny in Kalamazoo, MI can range from $15 to $30 per hour. It's recommended to contact local agencies or individual nannies to get specific pricing information based on your needs.

The cost of a night nanny in Kalamazoo, MI can be influenced by several factors:

  • Experience and Qualifications

Nannies with extensive experience, certifications (e.g., newborn care specialist), or specific training often charge higher rates.

  • Number of Babies

Caring for twins or multiples typically costs more than caring for a single baby due to the increased workload.

  • Hours and Duration

Rates may vary depending on the number of hours per night, the total number of nights required, and whether the arrangement is short-term or long-term.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities, such as bottle preparation, light housekeeping, or sleep training, can increase the cost.

  • Time of Year

Demand during peak times, like the holiday season, may drive prices higher.

  • Agency Fees

Hiring through an agency often includes placement fees or additional charges for their services, adding to the overall cost.

  • Overnight Rates vs. Hourly Rates

Some nannies charge a flat overnight rate, while others charge hourly, which can influence costs depending on the length of the shift.

When considering hiring a night nanny in Kalamazoo, MI, it's advisable to research and interview several night nannies to find one who aligns with your preferences, needs, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs. This process will help you find a night nanny who meets your needs and fits within your budget.

I'm a career nanny and Newborn Care Specialist with a Master's in Childhood Studies. I'm also currently working towards certification as a post-natal mental health specialist. My approach to working with both parents and children is a calm environment, lots of empathy, and a focus on parental well-being and children's rights. I've primarily worked with children ages newborn to 5 years old, with focused interest in sleep, development, language acquisition, and children's rights- particularly how caregivers can apply the UNCRC to the every day care of children. I've been blessed with some amazing, lovely nanny families throughout my career, and I've had the good fortune to work with both celebrity clients and members of a royal family. I'm very easy-going, I tend to get along with everyone, and I value kindess, tolerance, and communication.

Melissa came to work for us as a maternity nurse for the first few weeks after our daughter arrived, and we loved her so much she came back again a few months later! I was initially unsure of whether I wanted to hire a maternity nurse as I worried about it feeling quite intrusive or feeling like the maternity nurse was 'taking over' the baby. My husband and I agreed there was no harm in interviewing applicants and then if we didn't find anyone suitable, we had our answer. After interviewing several applicants, we'd nearly given up on the idea when the agency suggested one more - Mel. Gosh, I'm so glad they did. In our first introduction over facetime I immediately felt a connection with Mel, so she came to work for us for the first few weeks after our daughter was born, to help us settle in to parenthood. She is kind, supportive, knowledgeable, and appears to have endless patience (for both parents and babies!). She taught us the safest ways to get our daughter to sleep, bath her, change her, how to introduce a bottle, helped with breastfeeding, as well as helping me to figure out which breast pump to buy, how to work it, and sat with me for encouragement at all times. She would remind me when I needed to take my next medication and helped with any household tasks that I couldn't do due to recovery. There wasn't a single area of our lives that she didn't help out with in those first few weeks. I highly recommend Mel to anyone who is considering a maternity nurse. The warm, maternal, supportive energy that she brought into our home at such a vulnerable time was invaluable. She will always have a special place in our family - I just wish she could move in here forever!

Hi! I'm Abbey. I've been an infant nanny for more than ten years, ranging from full-time to as-needed. Night nannying has been my favorite, and I'm working toward a postpartum doula certification! I love working with new moms (and dads), comforting the understandable anxiety, trying out new "tricks" and methods for baby's care, and enjoying all the little milestones together as a team. I believe parents know their child best and do my best to follow their lead(s) and needs in addition to baby's. Safety is extremely important to me. I'm vaccinated, I don't smoke/chew, I love dogs and cats, and I have reliable transportation! I am knowledgeable in sleep training and have experience with medically needy, colicky, and gassy babies. I am trained in Infant CPR, First Aid, safe sleep, swaddling techniques, and general feeding protocols (breastmilk and formula). Right now, I also work as a book editor (self-employed). I have a Bachelor's in English and Creative Writing. I'm a big believer in getting to know each other first! Let's meet for coffee, chat on the phone--whatever you'd like! I'm grateful you took the time to read this! :) Abbey

We have loved our experience with Abbey! From the first time we met her, she has made us feel very comfortable & reassured that she would take great care of our triplet newborns. She started out night nannying for us which was a HUGE relief to get some guaranteed, uninterrupted sleep. At first, I was nervous to have a “stranger” in our home watching our babies while we were asleep but Abbey is so personable and made it clear that she was plenty capable of the job! Feeding triplets is not an easy or straightforward task but Abbey has handled it all with ease. She has also been very helpful with newborn advice, tips and tricks! Now that our babies are sleeping through the night, we no longer need any overnight help. We didn’t want to lose Abbey all together though so she has offered to help us at other times during the week. Her availability & scheduling has been more than accommodating to us! I could keep going on about our positive experience with Abbey! Overall, she is personable, educated, trusting and amazing with babies!!!

My teammate and I offer birth photography, birth support, postpartum support, birth and postpartum prep, and a variety of photography session options. It is our goal that families working with us feel held and supported as they enter into this chapter of their parenthood journey. As a doula, I provide physical, emotional, and informational support for families during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. I am passionate about helping families through education and advocacy. As a birth photographer, I artfully document birth stories to capture all the details of how each birth unfolds. I desire to help families see the beauty, strength, and surrender in each of their birth images.

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Bri and Randi during our pregnancy and the birth of our daughter in January 2026. I hadn’t originally been set on having doula support, but it was strongly encouraged by the midwives at our birth center, so we started researching. I’m so, so thankful that The Nurturing Company was one of the business cards I picked up. From the moment I visited their website, reached out, and began communicating with them, the decision was made. The warmth and love that came across just from their website and our virtual interactions pale in comparison to the support and care we received in person. We chose the Birth Support and Photography package and couldn’t be happier with what we received. Having both Randi and Bri at our prenatal visits felt like an even greater advantage—we had two brains to pick, two perspectives to hear, and two experienced mothers to look to as we prepared for this huge change in our lives. The group chat where I could ask them any questions that came to mind during pregnancy and postpartum felt like a group chat with my very own big sisters. Randi hiked out in the snow and took the most ethereal winter maternity photos for us. Bri was on call when I went into labor, and she truly went above and beyond for us. She was with us from our home to the birth center and back again when labor stalled. She even rode in the ambulance with me after our daughter’s birth when we had to be transferred to the hospital for an emergency D&C to remove my placenta. Her constant support was incredibly reassuring. My husband and I truly don’t know how we would have done it without her. The Birth Story Photo reveal at 6 weeks with snacks and hugs was the most healing and wonderful “ending” to this specific experience. And we’re so thankful that they are now a part of our village and community moving forward. Bri and Randi at The Nurturing Company are the beautiful, gilded picture frame around our birth experience. We could not recommend them enough.

Choosing a doula is about finding someone you feel safe with, supported by, and truly listened to. I believe every family deserves to feel respected, informed, and cared for during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My goal is to create a calm, steady presence so parents can focus on welcoming their baby with confidence. I am a certified Postpartum Doula, a DONA trained Birth Doula, a Lactation Specialist, and VBAC certified. I also have training in techniques such as Spinning Babies, the Miles Circuit, and a variety of labor positions and comfort measures that can help support progress and reduce discomfort during labor. My role during birth is to help create a calm environment, offer practical comfort techniques, and support both the birthing person and their partner so they feel informed and empowered throughout the experience. After birth, my focus shifts to helping families rest, recover, and adjust to life with their new baby. Postpartum support can include newborn care guidance, feeding support, emotional encouragement, and helping parents find their rhythm during those early weeks. Every family is different, and I meet people where they are and support them in the ways that feel most helpful to them. I proudly accept Medicaid as well as private pay so that more families can access doula support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Supporting families during this time is truly meaningful work to me, and I feel honored to be invited into such an important moment in people’s lives. When I am not working with families, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and visiting the beach where I love collecting rocks along the shore.

Gabrielle was absolutely amazing with my daughters. From the very beginning, she showed so much kindness, patience, and genuine care, and it made such a difference for our family. She has a calm, comforting presence and always treated my girls with so much love and attention, which gave me a deep sense of peace and trust. As someone who struggled with postpartum depression, there were days that felt heavy and hard to carry. Having Gabrielle there to help eased so much of that weight. Her patience, understanding, and willingness to step in without judgment gave me room to breathe and heal during a time when I truly needed support. I’m incredibly grateful for everything she did for us. The care she gave my daughters and the compassion she showed me is something I’ll always remember. She is truly wonderful, and any family would be lucky to have her.

My name is Claire and I am starting my doula journey. I feel that I have been called to support women during pregnancy and postpartum. I'm outgoing, supportive of your choices as a mother, and a great listener. I am skilled at de-escalating situations in which you may feel panicked or afraid, and explain things in simple terms so that they aren't overwhelming. I will advocate for you in whatever situation you need, whether with a high-pressure medical provider or your nosy mother-in-law. I have worked with children 5 to 18 years old who have mental, physical, and emotional handicaps as well as a multitude of students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. Working with these students has brought me so much joy and understanding of a world that can be very hard to explain to those with no experience in it. Whether it is you, your children, or loved ones who identify with the previous disorders, I would be beyond honored and ecstatic to help work through the crazy mystery and miracle of birth. I am currently going through the certification process to be a doula and need to attend three births to be fully certified. I am looking to help anyone I can in this process.

Claire was my doula throughout my entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She went with me to doctors visits and spoke up for my needs when I didn’t feel like I could advocate for myself. She was constantly researching ways to solve each unique problem I would have, such as ways to help my hyperemesis graviderum, finding unique foods that would stay down, or baby products that would accommodate specific needs that I or my neurodivergent husband had. She also taught my husband how to care for me when he felt incapable of helping me. During my natural homebirth Claire helped me stay calm and in a positive headspace while making sure my birth plan was followed. I was able to breathe baby out without any interventions and I credit so much of that to Claire’s support. Postpartum she helped me to the bathroom, helped me change my diapers, and even bathed me and washed my hair when I felt incapable of taking care of myself due to a painful tear from the birth. She came when I hadn’t slept in 48 hours post birth and took care of my newborn so I could sleep. Any time I called Claire she would just let me talk, release any anxieties I was having, and then help me come up with a practical plan to solve my problem. She is a fantastic listener and she was never condescending or made me feel silly for any of my anxieties or little problems. I truly could not have gotten through any of the pregnancy stages without Claire’s support and would highly recommend her to everyone, especially if you are neurodivergent and need someone who will stand up for you in any situation. Thank you, Claire!
