About Julia

Choosing a doula is about finding someone you feel safe with, supported by, and truly listened to. I believe every family deserves to feel respected, informed, and cared for during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My goal is to create a calm, steady presence so parents can focus on welcoming their baby with confidence. I am a DONA Certified birth and postpartum doula, a Lactation Specialist, and VBAC certified. I also have training in techniques such as Spinning Babies, the Miles Circuit, and a variety of labor positions and comfort measures that can help support progress and reduce discomfort during labor. My role during birth is to help create a calm environment, offer practical comfort techniques, and support both the birthing person and their partner so they feel informed and empowered throughout the experience. After birth, my focus shifts to helping families rest, recover, and adjust to life with their new baby. Postpartum support can include newborn care guidance, feeding support, emotional encouragement, and helping parents find their rhythm during those early weeks. Every family is different, and I meet people where they are and support them in the ways that feel most helpful to them. I proudly accept Medicaid as well as private pay so that more families can access doula support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Supporting families during this time is truly meaningful work to me, and I feel honored to be invited into such an important moment in people’s lives. When I am not working with families, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and visiting the beach where I love collecting rocks along the shore.

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept Medicaid?

Yes. I accept several Michigan Medicaid plans for doula services. If you are unsure whether your insurance covers a doula, I am happy to help you check your coverage and explain your options. Many families are surprised to learn their plan may fully cover pregnancy, birth, and postpartum doula support.

Do you offer payment plans or sliding scale options?

Yes. I believe families deserve support regardless of financial situation. I offer flexible payment plans and may have limited sliding scale options available depending on circumstances. Please reach out and we can talk about what works best for your family.

What areas do you serve?

I support families in Ingham County, Eaton County, Clinton County, Shiawassee County, Ionia County, and Berrien County. Virtual support is also available for families outside these areas.

Many families hire a doula early in pregnancy, so they have support throughout the entire journey. However, it is never too late. Some families reach out during the third trimester or even after birth for postpartum support.

Do you support VBAC births?

Yes. I am a VBAC certified doula and support families planning a vaginal birth after cesarean. I provide evidence based information, comfort techniques, and continuous support to help families feel confident and supported during birth.

Will a doula replace my partner during labor?

No. A doula does not replace a partner. My role is to support both the birthing person and their partner, so the whole birth team feels confident. I help guide comfort techniques, explain what is happening during labor, and support partners so they can stay present and connected during the birth experience.
