About me

Hi i'm Katie! A wife and mom to two little girls. I started The Early Days Pediatric Sleep Consulting because, like many parents, my interest in sleep training began in the middle of the night... several nights in a row. While trying to help my child get the rest they needed, I realized how confusing, overwhelming, and lonely the journey could be and wanted to use my passion and education to help other parents. I take a personalized and evidence-based approach to your child’s sleep, utilizing tried-and-true techniques that align with your specific needs. My method is gentle, responsive, and tailored to fit your family dynamics.

Katie has been an incredible resource. She is very detailed and thoughtful. She won’t make any recommendations or adjustments without getting the full picture or asking the right questions. We have implemented all of her plan and recommendations and our daughter sleeps 11 hours uninterrupted. We couldn’t be more thankful for Katie’s services and can’t recommend her enough. The cherry on top: while she is extremely professional, she is so warm and friendly! Plus you can tell she loves kids and loves what she does.

I have been extremely impressed with Ms. Walsh and her work. In the time that she worked to help our son, she consistently went above and beyond the expectation. She was willing to both call for clarification before our consultations had fully begun, and was available after our expected time together when our son had last-minute issues. Her sleep plan was extremely comprehensive, and truly was tailored for him. Several strategies she presented I understood as an educator, and we were provided several new suggestions that I was unaware of, even after working with children professionally for over a decade. Everyone has their 'person' they know, whether it's your tax guy, or the one mechanic you go to over everyone else, or your hairstylist even when she has an hour wait. I am now a believer, and wish more people that work with children worked as hard as Ms. Walsh. She is our 'sleep person', without question. I would unequivocally recommend Early Days to any needing family.

Katie is such a gift. We were really struggling with our second child who was still waking up multiple times every night at 10 months old. I felt like we had tried everything, and I was so exhausted from chasing after my 3 year-old that I just didn’t have the mental energy to puzzle out the issues. Katie met us where we were at every step of the way. We had quite a few challenges, including our infant and toddler sharing a room, to a less-than-ideal preschool nap scheduled that we couldn’t control. Katie took it all in stride and offered us so many creative solutions and helpful strategies. by the end of our first week with her, we got a full 12 hour night of sleep. Thanks, Katie!

am a mom of 2 girls. My first daughter has always been a DREAM sleeper to the point we never had to sleep train. My second daughter (now 4 months old) challenged us in the sleep arena and made me feel like a first time mom all over again with so much uncertainty if we were doing the right thing to make her a successful sleeper. During the intake call, Katie truly dedicated time to understanding our goals during the sleep training process. She created a very individualized plan to help us achieve all of our goals at our own comfort level with no cry it out. During our week and a half of working together, she helped us successfully wean off of the snoo, drop the swaddle, move to the crib, eliminate the need to rock her to sleep, and get longer stretches of sleep. After we continued with her recommendations from the sleep plan, we successfully dropped the pacifier (HUGE sleep dependency for my daughter) and started getting consistent 12 hour stretches at night and consistent crib naps during the day. Sleep training is not for the faint of heart but Katie kept encouraging us to stick with it and we are now reaping the amazing benefits of her dedication and guidance during the sleep training process. The app she uses to help track and communicate was easy to use and very helpful! She was always available at any time of the day and was always very responsive!

We recently worked with Katie when our daughter started struggling with sleep after transitioning to her big girl bed. She had always been a great sleeper, but the change really threw her off and we were all exhausted. Katie was patient, supportive, and gave us a clear, step-by-step plan to help her reacclimate to her old great sleeping habits. Within just a short time, we saw a huge difference. Our daughter is now back to sleeping soundly, and the entire household feels the positive impact. I can’t recommend Katie enough for parents navigating sleep challenges—especially those tricky toddler transitions! I would absolutely use Katie again for an infant or child of any age because she has such a beautiful approach to meeting everyone’s goals!

Katie was a great supporter during my decision to sleep train my baby. She met with me several times to design a plan that would work for me and my family. She took the time to understand my family dynamics and aspects that could help her to better design a strategy to sleep train my 2-year-old. Her gentle approach and understanding of my cultural background and family practices helped her to work with my family to find a solution. She even offered some safety points to consider during nap time. Katie is very knowledgeable and professional. Her experience is not only as a consultant but also as an experienced mom who has been through the process and can empathize with you and the different stages of motherhood you are in. If you are looking for a sleep consultant who is kind, respectful, and strategy-focused, look no further. Katie is your gal.

As a first-time mom, I was caught completely off-guard when my 6-month-old daughter outgrew her bassinet. Our first attempts at transitioning to the crib were a nightmare, with her immediately crying every time I set her down, until I ultimately took her to co-sleep out of sheer exhaustion. My husband and I both work full-time and couldn't find the bandwidth to research different methods of sleep training. Friends suggested we simply do Cry It Out for a few nights, insisting it was the only way, but I just wasn't comfortable with the idea of teaching her to not cry simply because she knew we weren't coming to get her. Thankfully, the universe or some higher power led me to Katie. At the end of our intake call, after I'd explained all the different ways I'd tried and failed to get our now 8-month-old baby to sleep in her crib, Katie's response was, "Well the good news is, I know what the problem is and how to fix it." I almost cried with relief. There was no pushing us to do Cry It Out, no judgment, only solutions and coaching us through the process. Katie developed an extensive sleep plan tailored to us and our baby's needs that led us gradually through the process of getting our baby comfortable sleeping in her crib. She checked in with us each morning to see how things went, and adjusted the plan based on what did or didn't work. Through the app she had me download to track our baby's sleep, she would coach me through the hard moments and encourage me to try giving our baby a little more time to soothe herself before going in to comfort her. The gradual approach was something I felt really comfortable with, and I could see how each step of the process brought us closer to the goal of sleeping through the night. Katie was patient and empathetic and a great coach through each step. After a week, I couldn't believe how much progress we'd made. Our baby was sleeping in her crib, with just one or two wake-ups at night. We are continuing to work toward napping in the crib and sleeping through the night, and Katie left us with our next steps and even checked in a couple weeks later to see how everything was progressing. I can't describe the relief I felt to have someone with the answers and the experience lead us through what was (so far) our hardest moment as parents. I can't recommend Katie and The Early Days enough!

As a first time mom, it was hard to navigate sleep schedules for myself and my little one. I knew I didn’t want to give up nursing completely and I didn’t want to have my baby cry herself to sleep. I wanted positive associations with her sleep routine but didn’t know exactly how to get there. Katie’s expertise showed me that it would only take some small but meaningful changes and consistency. Within a week, I was getting restful sleep again and so was my baby. Katie spent an hour with me learning our daily routine and drafted a sleep plan that almost immediately made a difference. Katie would reach out and was willing to shift my baby’s sleep plan around until we found something that worked. I’m so happy with the progress that’s been made in such a small amount of time.
