I have always had an immense level of respect and awe for birth, but it was really through my own pregnancy and natural, unmedicated and intervention free birth that a passion was ignited for serving women through this life-changing event. So many women lack the support they need to feel confident in the power they hold when they bring their babies into this world. My hope is that I can provide that support to you and help you achieve a positive birth experience. My goal for my clients is that you go into your birth feeling confident, empowered, educated, and in charge. I care that you've had a chance to access all of the information, have had time to ask questions, have had time to come to an answer and can give TRULY informed consent to any procedure. My journey in birth work started at age 12, when I had the unique experience of catching my little sister. At age 22, I started my work as a volunteer doula in Vermont, serving members in the community who lacked support. My early volunteer work gave me a deep understanding of how hospitals function, and how to work with medical staff towards the best possible outcomes for parent and child. In 2023, I was trained and certified through DONA, with mentorship by Penny Bussell Stansfield and Dr. Teri Nava-Anderson. Having been through two training programs has given me a diverse range of strategies to draw upon in our prenatal planning sessions and during your labor and birth! I have been honored to participate in many birth stories, each with unique circumstances and goals. I have experience supporting medicated and unmedicated vaginal births, scheduled and emergent Cesarean births with first, second, and fourth-time parents, queer parents, low-income parents, autistic parents, non-native English-speaking parents, sexual assault survivors, people with depression, and parents of color. I am a member of the queer community and this has strengthened my belief that all bodies deserve respectful, compassionate, and culturally humble care.
