Hi, my name is Maida and I'm a certified birth, and trained postpartum doula. My primary focus is birth support, but if you also want a little bit of help transitioning once you get home with baby, I'm available for that too. I tend to be a calming, quiet presence, and my clients usually comment on how I keep them feeling steady and grounded during birth. I live in Calgary with my husband and two pre/teen boys. I love to garden, knit, and dance. I bake all the things, and can't wait to settle down on a small farm someday.

Birth support includes: Two prenatal meetings to get to know each other, and discuss your options, fears, and preferences. Unlimited support when you go into labour, as well as first feeding support. Up to two visits postpartum to assist with feeding, and to check in and assess your needs. I also offer my personal lending library to clients for the duration of our contract. If you would also like some postpartum support at home, I offer that in addition to birth, with a minimum of twelve (12) hours booked. I am not able to offer overnight support at this time.
My husband and I are so grateful to have had Maida by our side throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. From the moment we met her, she brought a calm, grounding presence that made us feel seen, supported, and truly cared for. This was my first baby so naturally I had a lot of questions and Maida answered every question with compassion and evidence-based guidance, and she helped us navigate each stage with confidence. During labor, she was steady, reassuring, and intuitive. I could not have done an unmedicated home birth without Maida - we are so grateful she was part of our journey to parenthood!

We believe that having Maida as our doula was the best decision we made. Having her was never in our original plan; however, Maida made our decision truly worthwhile. She was present as soon as I needed her, even though it was earlier than we had discussed, and she stayed with me for over four hours after the delivery, for which I am very grateful. Most of all, I appreciated her writing my birth story. I didn’t realize it at the time, but now I am most grateful—it's the best thing she did for me.

We were so grateful to have Maida as our doula. She brought such a calm, grounding presence to our birth experience, something that truly made all the difference. From the moment she arrived, I felt safe, supported, and genuinely heard. Her gentle encouragement and steady energy helped guide us through every stage. Having Maida be a part of our birth was such a gift, and we’ll always be thankful for the care and compassion she showed us throughout the entire journey.

We wholeheartedly recommend Maida’s doula services. We first met her in 2023 while preparing for the birth of our first child. From the moment we connected, her calm and grounding presence made it clear she was the perfect fit for our family. As first-time parents, it was incredibly important for us to have someone we could trust to help us get to the hospital on time and support us throughout the entire birth experience. Maida is exceptionally in tune with her clients’ needs. She’s intuitive, recognizing when additional support may be needed, and her attention to detail stands out—even during the most hectic moments. Whether it was the thoughtful way she set up our birth room to maintain a calm, dim environment or the thorough notes she kept, her care and dedication were clear. As new parents, we sometimes found ourselves delayed in following up, but Maida was always patient and understanding, offering gentle reminders when needed. We especially appreciated how the experience was fully customized to meet our needs and align with the birth experience we envisioned. Maida also provided incredible support during the breastfeeding journey for both of our children. I was fortunate to begin breastfeeding without any issues, and her knowledge, cues, and helpful tips played a key role in that success. We were lucky to have Maida with us again for the birth of our second child. Her kindness and steady support helped us navigate the transition to a family of four, and her advice was invaluable. Although we’re done growing our family, we would work with Maida again in a heartbeat. Her support has been a gift, and we can’t recommend her services enough.

I had a wonderful experience with Maida. She provided invaluable support during my labor, and postpartum period. Her calming presence, guidance, and comfort techniques helped me stay confident and manage pain effectively. She also offered helpful postpartum advice and emotional support. I highly recommend her to any expecting parent.

Maida was great from the get go. When we met Maida, it made sense that we may actually need her. She was very clear and my husband and I were very at ease. We were late in asking her for help, and she made everything work out so that the process would still be manageable. When we chatted about the birthing plan, she made sure that we followed through. My baby was late and when I almost went along with what was suggested by the nurse and doctors, Maida reminded me that that was not what I wanted. I am so glad that we followed through with our original birth plan. Maida was able to reassure me, calm me down, and just make things run smoothly. She was able to answer any interesting questions either by calling or texting help process. The main thing was that she reminded us that she was there as a support person and that she if she didn't know the answer, she would do the best to help us out. When it came time for me contractions to arrive, she helped make sure that I relax and go through without thinking too much. She was able to give us stretches, movements and other ways to work with our baby. Maida was always calm and collected which made everything run smoothly. Thankfully we were able to have her at the hospital, and she worked really well with the nurses and doctors. For the counting, she was right there and kept everything steady, which is what I needed. After the delivery, she stayed for a bit to make sure that we were ok. Maida came over to visit us 2 to 3 weeks after the delivery and was able to make sure that we were OK and answer any follow-up questions. I wasn't so successful with the baby wrap, so she was able to help me out in person and even sent out extra links to help me out. Maida was genuine, informative, calm, and I'm very important support person in our birth of our son. We are very grateful to have had Maida's help for this very important time of our life.

We hired Maida from friends referral. She was exceptional in her services. She made us feel at ease even when things were not going as planned. She's very knowledgeable and offers a lot of resources and support along the way. We'd would recommend her and would definitely use her services if we decided to have another baby.

We were so grateful to have had Maida with us during the birth of our son Adam. Not only did she look after me, she cared for my husband too. We often forget that the birthing experience can tough on the dad as well. Just having an additional person present helped us get through the long and arduous night of our son's birth. She helped me endure some pretty intense contractions through massage and giving me tips on relaxation. She has a soothing presence that helped both me and my husband and stay calm as we could throughout the night until Adam was born at 3:40am. We highly recommend Maida as a doula for anyone who needs that extra love and caring spirit during their birthing experience!

Maida was such an important part of our birth story. Our experience would not have been the same without her. She worked tirelessly during my labour, applying counter pressure or rubbing my back for almost every contraction, or helping to support and assist when pushing in different positions. She made sure I was _at least_ having sips of my smoothie (no appetite) or would just keep me company when I was resting in the tub. I found her presence to be calming and confident, and I always felt more at ease with her around. She also wrote out our birth timeline, taking notes from the time she arrived until the time she left, and provided it to us at the end. It was SUCH a nice and thoughtful keepsake to have. She also took some pictures during the birth (with permission) and I'm so glad to have those memories to look back on. We never even thought of having a doula and had met with a few before deciding on Maida - and I am so glad we did. I can't say enough good things about her and I would recommend her as a doula a **thousand** times over. Thank you for everything, Maida!
