I met Mary when she practiced in Arizona and quickly turned into more than just a service provider, but a friend as well. She’s helped me through the pregnancy and post partum of all 4 of my babies and I couldn’t ask for a better support person by my side. Even from Texas, Mary was an absolute saint even just with listening through my temper-tantrums while being pregnant and guiding me through labor-prep. I seriously have her and her alone to thank for such an amazing birth and post partum 4 times now. I seriously recommend her if you’re looking for someone to feel more like family than a service.

Mary is amazing! We found and contracted her through an agency and she went above and beyond with her care. She is both a great person and highly skilled doula. She keeps up-to-date on the latest research on infant care, she is flexible, professional, transparent, and responsive. Even as a second time mom, leaving your newborn child overnight in the care of a stranger can be nerve-racking (what if there’s an accident? Is my child going to be too fussy for them? Are they going to get frustrated? What if the doula gets tired and cuts corners or falls asleep and something happens?), but at no point during our time with her did I have any fears or concerns. If we were having additional children we would ask for her again in a heartbeat.

We worked with Mary for immediate postpartum overnight care, and she was a total game-changer for us as first-time parents. She brought calm, warmth, and knowledge to every shift—able to settle our newborn even on tough nights and guiding us through everything from formula transitions to sleep strategies. What really stood out was how thoughtful and proactive she was, even off-duty—sending us helpful suggestions and checking in about baby’s symptoms. Mary worked as our doula with my first birth and I would say one of the best things about her is that she will do whatever you need in the moment. One of the hardest and best parts of my birth was when she read my favorite Psalms out loud to me. It’s not exactly a “normal” doula task and that’s what’s so unique about Mary I think. She listens to you and does her very best to give you what you ask for.

I didn’t get to hire Mary Ripp as my doula, because my one-income budget just couldn’t afford any doula. Mary was willing to work with me (she deserves her full fee, but she was awesome to try to work something out), but it just wasn’t in our budget. I would still highly recommend her, because she is the first doula I called in a long-list of possibilities, and she actually coached me through how to interview doulas, and told me some good questions to ask. She checked up on me multiple times and sent me some helpful birth videos, even thought I hadn’t committed to her services yet. She made me some recommendations of decibel blocking ear plugs for my current tantrum-throwing toddler and future newborn. If you’re looking for a doula, definitely interview Mary, she was helpful, knowledgeable, and very caring, even though I hadn’t hired her. I can tell that she’s not just in the birth workers’ world for the money, she truly cares and wants to help you have the birth you desire.

Mary cared for my newborn twin boys as a night newborn care specialist. She came in from 11pm to 7am. She was punctual and helped me so much with the twins. The three months she worked with us she helped bring attention to many medical issues to explore with my boys. She helped notice one of my babies had severe reflux and he was dignosed with cows milk protein allergy. She helped bring attention to treating there torticollis and many other issues. When the boys were ready she helped us drop the 2am feed,develop a steady routine, and instill good sleep habits. I can’t expressed how much my time with her showed me how to be a mom and manage two. She was able to remain professional despite my husband and I sometimes disagreeing with each other… Safety is her top priority and she has a great view of holistic care. I 100% recommend her.
