As a first-time mom, choosing Megan at Sun Valley Birth & Wellness was the best decision I could have made. She cared for me throughout my entire pregnancy with thorough prenatal appointments and clear guidance on how to remain healthy and low risk. I always felt informed, supported, and empowered. My physical, mental, and spiritual health were all key talking points during each appointment. Megan’s calm and hands-off presence allowed me to have a fully physiological birth where I felt completely safe and trusted. I had full confidence in my body and its capabilities. I was able to completely focus on my contractions because I knew if anything were out of the ordinary, Megan would know and would take action. What meant the most was how she cared for me afterward. She stayed for hours, ran a healing sitz bath, cleaned me up, helped me into clean clothes, and even spoon-fed me soup. Before Megan left my house, my husband and I were tucked in our bed with our baby and I was clean, comfortable and healing. I have never felt so taken care of in my life. This allowed me to pour my focus onto my newborn baby girl. If you’re considering a home birth in the West Valley of Arizona, I cannot recommend Megan enough. I will absolutely be using her again for future home births.

Everything about my pregnancy and birth experience with Megan was ideal. She was easy to talk to, always went above and beyond to provide me with answers and resources for any questions I had, and gave me many options for how I wanted to do things. We had a wonderful experience with Megan Desrochers at Sun Valley Birth and Wellness. Being cared for during a difficult pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period by the same provider, let alone a woman so knowledgeable, considerate, and practical - who was herself a mother of five and a churchgoing Christian - blessed my whole family during a challenging season. For one thing, I cannot overstate the value of receiving care in my own home throughout my pregnancy. I already have two small children, and I was so grateful for the convenience and comfort of seeing Megan for appointments at home with my children. In an increasingly impersonal age, I thought many times that Megan’s personal, hands-on, in-person care was too good to be true, but it was! For another, Megan is knowledgeable about the various resources available both nationally and locally, so if she cannot herself answer a question or meet a need, she knows who can. The cost is difficult to consider at first, but when you realize what it includes, it is a bargain. After all, you’re paying in one chunk for all your prenatal, postpartum, newborn, and time-of-birth care, plus a full birth kit that includes birth pool rental. In fact, seeing the practical care and expertise that went into the birth kit alone made me wish I had someone like Megan helping me with my first two babies! She made sure I had everything I needed for the birth, postpartum, and newborn days. I would not have wanted anyone else helping me through this pregnancy and especially the birth!

What a blessing to have found a midwife who not only services the west valley but lives in the west valley too. It brought my husband and I the peace of mind knowing our midwife wouldn’t have to travel far when the time came to deliver our daughter. This was our 4th pregnancy and second home birth. Megan was the most attentive, sensitive, and encouraging midwife I’ve ever had. The bonus is that she loves the Lord and was more than willing to pray for me in times of stress or anxiety, and even just to praise the Lord for His provisions and blessings.

I started seeing Megan November 2023 and gave birth in July 2024. This was our second home birth with a midwife, but my first birth with Megan and what an amazing experience we had with her! She made me feel like a VIP (very important patient). There is so much I love about Megan and Sun Valley Birth: * All the appointments were done in our home and on nice days, we did appointments in our backyard. * She prayed with me at the end of our appointments and during labor. * While in labor, Megan balanced supporting me with also being kind and respectful to my family, specifically acknowledging and engaging with my toddler. * Megan made sure I knew my birth experience mattered to her and never treated us like “just another client”. * She didn’t rush the post birth bonding time to get to the measurements. * She and her midwife assistant cleaned the birthing tub and put a load of laundry in the wash after the birth. * When our visits decreased in frequency (after giving birth) I missed seeing her on a weekly basis. * Through this process I became so close to Megan that she doesn’t feel like just another medical provider, but a family friend that I love dearly.

My wife and I contracted Megan to be our midwife for our second home birth. She was very kind, gentle and understanding towards my wife, addressed all our concerns (we did not have a great experience with our previous midwife), and put us at ease. She kept an open communication with us at all times, and I knew I could count on her to take care of my wife when it was time to give birth. Indeed, when the time came, my wife had slow and unpredictable contractions, and Megan stayed with us all morning. She and her assistant Jada were very patient and helped my wife get as comfortable as she could. Our second home birth was beautiful and memorable thanks to Megan and Jada!

This review has been on my to-do list forever but taking the time to type out (coherent) thoughts is hard when you have a newborn. Now that the baby is older, I am truly delighted to share my heartfelt appreciation for Megan. From the moment she walked into our lives, her caring, sweet, and thoughtful nature made a profound difference in our journey. Her competence and warmth shone through, especially as she encouraged my toddler to be involved. My toddler was very eager to play "nurse" and Megan helped her to listen to the baby's heartbeat and push the cuff button to take my blood pressure. Additionally, we moved states late in my pregnancy and actually transferred care to Megan around 28 weeks. Her sunny disposition and calming presence helped me get to know her quickly. This made the entire experience stress free (which is great since moving in the third trimester was wild and chaotic by itself). Ultimately I had a speedy and uncomplicated home birth and now have a happy, healthy infant. Megan even sent a lovely Mother's Day gift long after my medical care ended! I would happily trust Megan with another pregnancy and birth if that is the route we eventually take. We are deeply grateful for her exceptional support and care during such a special time in our lives.

Where to start. My whole family absolutely loves Sun Valley Birth! Megan is the absolute best midwife I have had. This is my 4th baby and one of my best experiences. She is very knowledgeable and has such a calm about her. We would always look forward to our midwife appointments at home! I was previously with a midwifery group that turned very medical minded and I did not like that- so at 30 weeks I decided to switch my midwifery care over to Sun Valley Birth and I’m so glad I did!
