Celebrate Birth is an independent midwifery practice with the only birth center in Polk County, FL. Our staff is honored to serve women in pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. We offer women a variety of options for prenatal care, all designed to best meet their needs and preferences while maintaining the health and safety of their baby. Hi! I’m Amanda DeWeese, and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I am also an accredited La Leche League (LLL) Leader and an experienced nursing mother of 5 (all boys!). I hold a BS in Health and Physical Education with a concentration in Health Promotion and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health, in addition to being Certified in Public Health (CPH). I guess you could say I love helping families and I’m a lifelong learner! I serve the Tampa Bay area as well as online. My own breastfeeding journey began when my oldest son was born as a preemie in 2010. With the right support, my son and I enjoyed a long and healthy breastfeeding relationship. My name is Amy Hammant, I am a licensed Internationally Board Certified Lactation Specialist, certified in Oral Habilitation, Cranial Nerve Dysfunction, Pediatric Feeding and Oral Motor Assessment, Pediatric Holistic Sleep Therapy, and CST-CFT trained. My Degree background is in Midwifery, and Health Psychology with a concentration in Maternal Child Health. I have served thousands of families of diverse populations over the years- working in and out of a hospital setting here in Tampa Bay, and also working in the community as the lead clinical lactation specialist at Champions for Children’s (Baby Cafe) program of Hillsborough County, before opening Tampa Breastfeeding Center. My journey started many years ago with my own three children struggling with feeding, and in particular, my daughter who was tongue tied. Our journey taught me so much, and gave me the passion and desire to give all families access to non-judgmental, evidenced based clinical lactation care. When I’m not helping mamas and babies, I spend my time with my family traveling in our RV making memories!
