We're a queer couple and this is a first pregnancy. We struggled with infertility and IVF and have had some trauma from that and some scares in early pregnancy. The gestational parent is a crunchy, spiritual, earth mama and the non gestational parent is an analytical physician with a big heart. Most important to us: we're seeking a doula with an evidence-based approach. We both like data and research to weigh our options. If the stars align, we're aiming for a non medicated, vaginal birth at Sentara Leigh. Our budget is flexible. We are hoping to use Tricare Select but finding the right doula is a priority over insurance and cost.

Hi there! I am due for my fourth baby at the end of December/beginning of January. I will be doing a homebirth and just moved here from Oregon. All of my laborers and deliveries have been fairly quick and uncomplicated. I would love to know if you were available for my time frame of needing a doula. I prefer Doula who has familiarity with massage during labor, can braid hair (having my hair done is an oxytocin release), and can be flexible while also assertive during my labor.

I am pregnant with my 2nd baby. My first baby I was induced & labored for 36 hours & had an emergency c-section. My son had a heart arrhythmia in utero & labor was too much on his heart. -Norfolk General in Norfolk VA. -I’m not sure my budget, but I have Tricare select. - I would like a chance at a VBAC but have been labeled high risk and have a 25% chance of a successful VBAC according to my doctors -Someone who knows most about VBACs and when it’s safe to have one or not. As well as keeping me away from Pitocin -I’m 34, I plan to exclusively pump and use breast milk, I would like to not have pitocin during labor, have skin to skin after birth, and protect sleep in the middle of the night/crazy early morning after birth. -I have Tricare Select and will be giving birth in Norfolk VA.
