Hello, My name is Hermila but everyone calls me Milly. I am originally from Havana, Cuba but have been living in Miami for over 20 years. I am bilingual and speak both English and Spanish. I am a mother of two girls whom I adore and have taught me more about life than I could ever explain. I am a birth and postpartum doula serving the South Florida area. For as long as I could remember, I have been fascinated by all things surrounding pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. My very different birth experiences lead me on the path of birth work. Having had a c-section with my first daughter and natural home birth with my second. Having lived the drastic difference between those experiences shaped my views and proved the importance of education and support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I have made it my life’s work to educate and prepare families in all aspects for the journey ahead. It is an honor to be able to guide families in this transitional time of their lives. I approach this work from a traditional African-centered perspective and value system that centers support rooted in evidence-based information and wholistic wellness practices. How would you like to welcome in new life? I receive my education by sitting at the feet of, and training with, midwives across may different pathways of midwifery (such as CPM, TM, CNM, and LM). These wisdom holders carry over 10+ years of experience, and I have had the honor to travel globally from Ghana, West Africa, the Caribbean's, South Florida, and Georgia, USA, to immerse myself in learning the most optimal prenatal and postpartum care, as well as serving families, from them. The commonality within pregnancy and postpartum care however has been the centering of the mother's mental, emotional, and physical heath, the well-being of baby, and the communal nature of birth and postpartum itself. When choosing me as part of your care team, you are also choosing a team of three: two trained birth and postpartum care providers (myself included) and a certified Chef- because it takes a village. We will always conduct an initial meet in-person, if local, or virtually, if remote to see if we are the best team for you, or offer referrals if needed.
