About me

Go beyond birth plans with midwifery wisdom blended with doula support to help you reconnect with the wisdom of your body for an easier pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Cut through the noise, conflicting advice, and one size fits all guidance that can make this season feel overwhelming. I’m Monica, a Licensed Midwife, Doula, Holistic Perinatal Wellness Guide and Certified Yoga Instructor with 30 years experience supporting thousands of women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and everything that comes with it. I bring together the clinical knowledge of midwifery and the hands on guidance of doula care so you get support that’s practical, evidence informed, and grounded in the reality of how birth actually works. I created Moonwise Motherhood to give you a full spectrum approach to the childbearing year. This isn’t just classes or checklists. It’s real guidance, real education, and real support that helps you prepare your body, trust your instincts, and learn tools that actually work in labor and postpartum. Here’s how I can support you: • Easier Birth Classes • Prenatal Yoga to prepare your body for labor & birth • Virtual and in person Birth Doula Support • Postpartum preparation and guidance after you give birth • Perinatal Wellness Guidance As your birth doula, I help you understand your options, learn comfort measures, and get clear on what you want for your birth. I teach you how to work with your body, stay grounded through every stage of labor, and make choices that feel right for you. I am with you through the whole process so you feel supported, informed, and steady from the first signs of labor through the moment you meet your baby and beyond. My goal is to provide comprehensive information as well as a comforting, personalized touch to every family's journey, ensuring each experience is smooth and easier.

Labor/Birth Monitrice Support
A monitrice is a Doula who is a licensed or registered healthcare provider that, in addition to Doula support, also provides clinical assessments during labor. As a Licensed Midwife and Doula, I provide clinical assessments such as vital sign monitoring, intermittent fetal heart tone auscultation, assessment of signs and symptoms, cervical exams for dilation (only if, and when, requested), monitoring mom for signs that it's time to head to the hospital. Monitrice support is especially helpful in situations where you would prefer to labor at home for as long as possible but would still like the benefit of being monitored for peace of mind. It can also be especially helpful should you have a long prodromal or early labor and would prefer to be assessed at home rather than heading to the hospital too soon. This can help determine whether or not you are actually in labor, baby’s position and tools to help move Prodromal labor into active labor, etc. No diagnoses will be made from these assessments but they are helpful in helping you determine when to head in and give you peace of mind while you labor at home. Any decisions as to next steps based on the assessments will be made solely by the parents, not the monitrice. Midwife Moni will chart clinical assessments so that you can report them to your provider upon hospital admission or prior, when necessary. This service includes 2 prenatal birth planning visits, Labor monitrice/doula support in your home before heading to the hospital/birth center as well as doula support in the hospital throughout labor and birth. 1 Postpartum visit in your home (including clinical assessment for you to report to your provider upon request). This service may also be offered a la carte on an hourly basis (see package below) of $625 per hour (helpful in cases where you would just like an assessment at home in early labor but do not require full labor support).

Monica was a midwife to me for my second born baby. After delivering in a hospital with my first baby, I was sure I wanted different with my second baby. Monica was incredible, when she found out it was go time, she was more than prepared! She stayed connected, & we had a quick precipitous labor here my son was born to me in the water just 3 hours after laboring. I’ll never forget this experience and how Monica left a mark in my heart. The most empowering birth right after having had experienced a hospital birth.

There’s no way I’d ever have gotten through my pregnancy without Monica. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable, but the comfort and calm she provides is like nothing else. As a first time mama, there were so many things I completely freaked out about, and she was there every step of the way to educate, support, and guide me through it all. She is a true pregnancy guru, and her encouragement and help doesn't end after delivery. I feel so confident because of her that I’d like at least three more children (if my husband will let us haha). I could write a book about how fantastic Monica is — and maybe I will get the opportunity one day — but all ya need to know is that she’ll always make sure you are safe, supported, educated, empowered, and loved throughout your pregnancy journey.

Monica is so amazing! She has so much knowledge, and on such random things too! Over 28 years she’s been in this industry, so she knows all the answers to questions I don’t even know I had! Ha! And my favorite piece of advice she says is “you can do anything for one minute”. Because that saying replayed in my mind during my wonderful labor and truly gave me the strength and confidence to deliver my baby…epidural free! She makes you feel comfortable to share these moments we go through as mommas, these intimate and precious, sometimes beautiful, sometimes not to pretty moments! She is just absolutely super! Check her out, or ask her a question. She’s very friendly online, too!

Monica was amazing for the very fast & furious birth of my little girl! She was such a sweet gentle assurance beside me as I roared my baby earthside. She took careful care of my post-birth needs, and was genuinely a joy to have through such a raw and special moment! This birth came after 2 hospital births, the second being traumatic. It was a huge leap of faith to choose an out-of-hospital birth, but it became the best decision - so empowering & so beautiful. I cherish this birth of all of my babies, I wish i would have had Monica there for all of them!

Monica was such a gift to me during my postpartum season in 2014 after I had my son. She didn’t just “help,” she cared. She made sure I was resting, eating and emotionally held during one of the most vulnerable transitions. She even changed my depends 🤍 Monica created a safe space for me to recover and process. Her energy is intuitive and deeply compassionate. If you’re looking for a doula who will genuinely show up for you, Monica is that person. I’m forever grateful for the way she supported me during such a sacred time.
