About Sarah

Hi, I'm Sarah and I founded Forever Doula because I think babies are the absolute best (and so are their moms and dads). I am a DONA trained Birth and Postpartum Doula, a Birth and Bereavement Doula through StillBirthDay, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, a Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator, and a Certified Lactation Counselor. Before becoming a doula I worked with children in education, specializing in care for kids with special needs. I absolutely loved my job. This sparked an initial passion in me for children and their care. In 2014 my husband and I found out we were going to have our first baby. So exciting (but also a little scary)! I quickly realized how significant care for mom and baby is during pregnancy, birth and newborn stages. Oftentimes we emphasize the care a baby needs. It’s natural - they’re so small and rely on us for everything. But while their care is so important, we can inadvertently disregard the care moms need as well. It was through my own experience I learned that great care for baby begins with great care for mom. It was that truth that turned my initial spark of passion into a life changing journey. I was hooked. Being a doula has been the most rewarding and satisfying job of my life (besides being a mommy). My research, training, and extended experience has shaped the way I approach doula care: I support informed birth choices and empowerment. In simple terms, I believe all moms should have the support to birth and care for their baby, their way. No pressure and no judgment. I’ve worked with moms who know exactly what they want and need my help to achieve that. I love that! I’m on your team all the way. Other times moms need help figuring out what they want, and I love that too! It allows me to offer them all of the information, research and education I have stored up so they can have that “Aha!” moment when they finally discover which approach resonates with them. It’s such a beautiful thing! I truly believe great care is hinged on great education. I’m extremely passionate about educating mothers to learn what changes are occurring in her body, details about labor and delivery, as well as providing comfort measures to ease her body into birthing her baby. It’s my goal to support you by offering evidence-based information, teaching you how to self advocate for your needs, and being physically present at the delivery, as well as providing continued postpartum care. At Forever Doula, we understand that no two births are the same (I myself had three very different births) and every postpartum journey holds its own unique challenges. We’re here to help you through it all, providing you not only the care you desire, but the premium support you and your baby deserve. Together, we’re going to make your dream a reality.

We are endlessly grateful to Forever Doula for supporting us through our 36-hour labor and making us feel truly prepared for our birthing journey. From the very beginning, we felt informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way. Michelle was absolutely incredible. The fact that she was by our side for the entire 36 hours—through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day—speaks volumes about her dedication and heart. Her expertise, calm presence, and intuition made my labor experience unforgettable. I will never forget the peanut ball, the guidance around the midwives and the epidural, and how spiritually grounding the entire experience felt. It was powerful, sacred, and deeply meaningful. We are also so thankful for the home visits—coming into our space, helping us understand parenthood, and preparing us as much as possible for our baby made such a difference. It gave us confidence and peace during such a transformative time. Thank you to Michelle, Annelle, and Sarah for making the process of getting a doula so easy, accessible, and supportive. The love, care, and intention you put into your work does not go unnoticed. We will truly never forget you and are forever grateful for the role you played in welcoming our baby into the world.

I am so happy that I chose to work with Forever Doula during our first baby's "4th trimester." Sarah was an absolutely fantastic person to work throughout the process- from explaining their process in detail, to helping us select the right Doulas, to guiding us through pros and cons of different schedules we were considering. Sarah also ended up being one of our Doula's and oh man, she is an absolute treasure. I truly feel like our two doula's became apart of our village and were such a huge help for teaching me and instilling confidence in me, supporting our sleep schedules, and caring for our little one. I could go on and on with all the great things I have to say, but in short- if you are thinking about going with Forever Doula, just do it. Best decision I made.

Frequently asked questions

What if I don't know what kind of birth I want yet?

That's completely okay! You don't need to have your birth plan figured out before reaching out. We can help you understand your options, answer your questions, and provide evidence-based information so you can make informed decisions that feel right for your family.

I'm interested, but I'm not sure which type of support is right for us. What should we do?

That's exactly what we're here for! Tell us about your pregnancy, your due date, your hopes for birth, and what you're looking for in a doula. We'll help you understand your options and find the level of support that's the best fit for your family.

What does a birth doula do?

We provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout labor and birth. We help you understand your options, use comfort and positioning techniques, work alongside your partner, and feel confident throughout the process. Our goal is to help you have an informed, supported birth that feels right for you.

Do you support both natural and medicated births?

Absolutely! We support families regardless of how they choose to give birth, including unmedicated births, epidurals, inductions, cesareans, and VBACs. We never pressure you toward a particular type of birth. Instead, we provide information, encouragement, comfort, and support so you can make the decisions that are right for you.

What if I need a C-section?

We will continue to support you if your birth takes an unexpected turn or a cesarean becomes necessary. Our role is to help you understand what is happening, provide emotional support, and help you feel prepared and cared for throughout the experience and afterward.

Will my partner still be involved if we hire a doula?

Absolutely! We love working with partners. We don't replace your partner; we give them additional tools, ideas, and reassurance so they can feel confident and involved. We work together as a team to support you throughout labor and birth.

How experienced are your doulas?

At Forever Doula, have been supporting families for over a decade and have extensive experience with many different types of births, birth preferences, and postpartum journeys. Our team includes highly trained birth and postpartum professionals with additional expertise in childbirth education, lactation, newborn care, and postpartum support.

What is the difference between the Essential, Premium, and Elite birth packages?

All three packages provide professional, compassionate birth support. The primary difference is the experience level of the doula supporting you. This allows families to choose the level of experience that best fits their needs and investment.

Do you offer postpartum support?

Yes! At Forever Doula, we offer both daytime and overnight postpartum support, including newborn care, feeding and breastfeeding support, maternal recovery, soothing, diapering, pumping, and giving parents the opportunity to rest. Support can be customized to your family's needs.

Do you offer reduced rates for longer postpartum bookings?

Yes! Our postpartum rates become more affordable as you book more support. We offer reduced hourly rates for larger daytime packages and reduced rates as you book additional overnight nights.

Can I combine birth and postpartum support?

Absolutely! Our Complete Care Packages combine birth doula support with 10 hours of postpartum support. It's a great option for families who want continuity of care from pregnancy through those important first days and weeks with their baby.

What if Sarah isn't available for my birth?

Because Sarah founded Forever Doula, she can help connect you with another experienced doula from our team when needed. We'll take the time to understand your needs and help you find the right doula and level of support for your family.

When should I hire a doula?

You can reach out at any point during pregnancy. Starting earlier gives us more time to get to know you, discuss your hopes and concerns, and prepare for birth, but it's never too late to reach out. If you're already well into your pregnancy, we'd still love to hear from you!

Do you provide breastfeeding support?

Yes! Our team includes Certified Lactation Counselors, and breastfeeding support can be incorporated into your birth and postpartum care. We can help with preparation, positioning, latch, pumping, and common feeding challenges.
