I am thinking about hiring a doula to assist and be there for me during labor. I plan on giving birth at the Mary V. O’Shea Birth Center in Saint Peter’s University Hospital. My plan is to have an unmedicated birth with low interventions, and I am hoping to find someone knowledgeable that can help guide me through the labor process.

I am new to the idea of having a doula. I would like to do more preparation work to hopefully have a smoother delivery. My first experience of childbirth, ended in a natural delivery that was forceps assisted, and I had 3+ hours of pushing before we decided between forceps or C section. I had to be induced after 11 days being overdue. I would hope that with this next pregnancy I can go naturally and have way less medications than I had the first time. I want to trust that my body knows what to do, but I need to help train it to achieve my goal. I'm reaching out because I'm looking for a doula who can provide the support and advocacy I've been missing throughout my pregnancy. Unfortunately, I haven't received the prenatal care I needed for much of my pregnancy due to switching OB-GYNs and dealing with other challenges. As a result, I've often felt dismissed during appointments, and it's been difficult to feel heard or supported by my medical providers. I'm hoping to find a doula who can be a supportive presence during the remainder of my pregnancy, help me prepare for birth, and provide reassurance and advocacy during labor and delivery. Either Riverview in Red Bank or Jersey Shore Hospital Not sure on budget yet I would like to give birth in a hospital unmedicated and not rushed. Delayed cord clamping is a must as long as the baby is healthy.
