My preference is an unmedicated vaginal birth, though I am open to an epidural and other interventions if labor calls for it. Because this is my first birth, I am looking for a doula who uses a fact- and evidence-based approach to help me and my partner navigate the labor process with clear data, statistics, and calm guidance. My main priorities for support are guidance through physical pain relief techniques, evidence-based informational support, and strong, seamless advocacy within a hospital setting. First baby, will birth at Hackensack University Medical Center. I live in Jersey City NJ. Would love an unmedicated birth but I’m flexible with wherever this birth takes me. I’m not sure what my budget should be because I don’t know what Doulas go for. Once baby is born I’m hoping to breastfeed and want to give it my best shot. If baby allows and while I recover I would like to have a night doula for 3-4 nights a week for 7-8 hours a night.

I'm reaching out because I'm looking for a doula who can provide the support and advocacy I've been missing throughout my pregnancy. Unfortunately, I haven't received the prenatal care I needed for much of my pregnancy due to switching OB-GYNs and dealing with other challenges. As a result, I've often felt dismissed during appointments, and it's been difficult to feel heard or supported by my medical providers. I'm hoping to find a doula who can be a supportive presence during the remainder of my pregnancy, help me prepare for birth, and provide reassurance and advocacy during labor and delivery.
