About me

"Birth support that respects science, nature, and mother's intuition" Hi, I'm Steph, a birth doula and mother of two based in Manitou Springs, CO. I recently completed birth doula training through Childbirth International and am providing low-cost services while I establish my practice (Mother Manitou Doula Services) and work towards certification. I studied evolutionary biology as a young adult and was planning a career shift into healthcare at the time that I became pregnant with my first child. Giving birth changed my path in life – and not just because it made me a mother. I realized how much expectant parents stand to gain from continuous, informed support during childbirth (research supports this). I knew then that my background in evolutionary biology and health sciences had come together just so that I could support pregnant, laboring, and postpartum parents. Today, I am proud to serve growing families in Manitou/Colorado Springs (and surrounding areas) as a birth doula.

Service introduction

My services are currently low-cost as I am still establishing my practice and working towards certification. I offer prenatal planning or continuous birth doula support (which includes prenatal planning). If you decide to hire me as your birth doula after completing a prenatal planning appointment, I will subtract the $100 cost from my $525 doula fee. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about my services, either through messages or a free meet and greet!

Prenatal Planning (up to 4 hours)
You’re pregnant and have questions about prenatal care, childbirth, drafting a birth plan, and more. I can help! During this private workshop, I will provide education in your areas of concern, assist you in researching options for your birth plan, and teach you comfort measures for labor pain. I will also check in with you after this workshop, closer to your due date, to answer any follow up questions.

Continuous Birth Doula Support
You’re wanting informational, emotional, and physical support before, during, and after the birth of your child. As your doula, I will provide continuous support throughout your pregnancy, including in-person prenatal planning. I will be on-call for your birth - starting at 38 weeks. I will join you when labor heats up and stay through the first hours of baby’s life. I will also provide an additional 2 hours of daytime postpartum support within 4 weeks of your birth at no extra cost. I am happy to adapt this service to the needs of parents who are planning a cesarean.

Steph was my birth doula for my first birth! My husband and I were extremely happy and grateful for her support with everything. The prenatal meetings allowed us to prepare a detailed birth plan, practice pain tolerance techniques, and informed us on what to expect during the birthing process. The day my water broke, Steph was responsive and quick to meet us at the hospital. She provided so much emotional support during the birth, performed amazing hip squeezes, and assisted during the pushing! She worked extremely well with the hospital staff and made my experience so special. Following the birth, she met with us to debrief and provided us with details she wrote down during the birth, which I will get to share with my son one day when he's older! Thank you so much Steph!
