I am a seasoned behavioral health professional with over 18 years of experience supporting children and families across Virginia, my goal is to come alongside new and expectant families, regardless of how the family came to be (i.e. birth, surrogacy, adoption, foster care, or kinship care) supporting them as they navigate their parenting journey. Additional services such as infant massage and parent coaching wrap around the family beyond the typical six-week postpartum period to toddlerhood and beyond to support healthy parent-child interactions, strong attachment, and effective communication, necessary to achieve positive parent/child outcomes.

Service introduction

The postpartum period is traditionally defined as the six-week period following childbirth but can extend through the child’s first year of life. This is a special time and one that is deserving of sensitivity and grace as the birthing individual and the family adjust to their needs and the needs of the baby. Research shows that birthing individuals, their support partners, and babies have an easier time with this transition if a good support team is in place. A postpartum doula can be a part of that support team, specifically focusing on the needs of both the parent(s) and their newborn. Your postpartum doula will help you navigate your parenting journey by offering practical assistance and emotional encouragement that will support the birthing individual's physical recovery and overall confidence in addressing parenting challenges. Your postpartum doula can serve as a bridge between you and others, filling in where needed and gently guiding extended family, friends, and other visitors, if needed, to facilitate a healthy postpartum adjustment, free of unintentional stress. Postpartum doula support is also available for families of surrogacy, adoption, foster care, and kinship care. Virtual and in-person support available.

Having Telisha as my husband and I doula for our first child was nothing short of AMAZING! Her knowledge and attention to details gave our family such an amazing peace about being new parents! Her service, promptness, and compassion were everything we wanted when looking for a doula! My Husband and I already informed Telisha that when we have our second child to be ready...lol! Telisha has a true gift and calling, which I honestly believe shows in how passionate she is in assisting parents on this breathtaking journey. ♥

Sometimes you just don't know what you need until it's been given to you. I am a 42 yr old working mother of 3; a set of 3 yr old twin girls and a 10mos old son. The twins came first. While it was very exciting, it was also very overwhelming at times. Telisha Woodfin came alongside me offering support in the form of meal prep, emotional support, referral advice and guidance and infant massage. She was there, not only during my pregnancy, but following delivery and in the most relevant of ways that i would not have known to ask being a new mom.....she just knew lol! If you're looking for someone who is knowledgeable, compassionate, kind, honest and sensitive to your needs.....she's the one for sure. Thank you so much Telisha for being there for me during both of my pregnancies. My family and I appreciate all you do and have done to support us.
