Diane is deeply caring and smart. I felt truly listened to when working with Diane. She supported not only my nursing journey, but also my motherhood journey. From the first fragile days postpartum through weaning, Diane sees mothers as whole people and validates all the many emotions that come with this wild ride. She is incredibly knowledgeable. She always had many suggestions and resources for any issue I faced through nursing two children. In particular, when I struggled with Breastfeeding Aversion and Agitation (BAA) while nursing my toddler, Diane was a wealth of information. I felt awful and didn't know how to explain what was going on, but I felt safe reaching out to Diane for help. She made me feel seen and understood. Diane helped me understand what was happening and work through ways to ease the BAA. While many lactation consultants are primarily versed in working with babies, Diane is a sage guide through extended breastfeeding as well. I am so thankful for Diane's loving guidance.

Hi! I’m Ariel. I am a postpartum fitness and nutrition coach. I am a certified Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialist with a graduate degree in Exercise Science. I have been working in health and fitness for over 15years. I started my own business in 2021 after losing my job due to the pandemic. I am extremely passionate about working with postpartum women. My #1 goal when coaching women is to make them feel supported and understood. All too often women are sent home after giving birth with little to no information on how to properly rehab their bodies and their minds. We are left with losing our sense of self and not having anyone to help us find our way back. I not only help my clients meet their weight loss and body composition goals through nutrition and exercise, I offer emotional support, accountability, and encouragement. Losing my job was scary but it gave me the push to do what I went into health and fitness to do. I’m so happy to be a coach and mentor for postpartum women because you deserve support from someone who will truly listen and understand!

I was a first time mom planning a natural birth when I decided I needed to find a level of expertise that could not only support me but my husband in our journey to natural birthing. I was blown away with the level of professionalism and knowledge Tamara was able to provide us. The classes were informative, creative and really allowed us to build a strong foundation in the process. By the end of the classes I felt very prepared and ready to embark on my journey. I would recommend this class to ANYONE who is looking for a great experience and wants to learn from someone that truly cares about your health and well-being. I can attribute my successful natural birthing experience to all of the positive tips, tricks and knowledge I was offered.

My calling for birth work started with a traumatic first birth, but has opened my eyes to the beauty that is child birth. I began educating myself which resulted in discovering what a doula was. I felt in my heart if I was able to rewrite my birth narrative, then I can be that person for others. I began attending births as a doula in November 2021. Along this journey, I became pregnant with my third child and was able to experience the difference the midwifery model of care can make. As I carried my child in my womb, attending mostly hospital births as a doula, I saw so many women not being heard or respected. I felt this urgency to become a midwife myself, because all women deserve to be supported. Birth is a natural event that sometimes needs medical attention and not the other way around. I was so inspired to make this my life’s work that I enrolled at the National College of Midwifery September 2022. I have not only been a victim myself but witnessed how our culture has stripped women of their birthing power. I have had three very different personal experiences with three very different births myself. One very medicalized birth turned into cesarean, one unmedicated vbac in a hospital and my last birth was at a birth center ! My hope and passion is to help other women feel the power that comes when their autonomy is left intact! I believe that birth is sacred. I believe in you and your ability to birth. I hold space for the spiritual, the physical, the emotional. I am here to help you with your fears, your hopes, and your dreams. In January 2023 I decided to attend a reiki 1 and 2 training. I have been incorporating this spiritual modality when requested. The pairing on energy work within the birth space has had a magical impact on my clients and my own personal enlightenment. I believe that every woman deserves to birth in a way that is safe for her and her baby, in a way that assures she feels honored and supported.

I can’t say enough good things about Carly, Angela and Amanda. I was beyond impressed with how much I learned from them about my pregnancy and future delivery. Because of that, I was not scared to give birth and I trusted that they would be by my side when the day came. I can’t describe the sense of relief, and safety I felt having them in my corner. During my delivery, Carly was my rock. She supported me 200% and backed me up with every decision that I made. Hiring a doula was the best decision that I made during my pregnancy and I can’t wait to get to work with Carly, Angela and Amanda for all of my future pregnancies! I love them so much!

I don't know how I would have gotten through the trenches of postpartum without Amanda. After dealing with PPD after the birth of my first daughter and falling pregnancy shortly after with my second daughter, Amanda helped me find myself again after being in a very dark place. I can't recommend her enough. Amanda helped me find balance in my life again after having 2 under 2 and helped me finally enjoy motherhood. Amanda is wonderful with babies and children and is a pleasure to be around. My girls absolutely love her and I cannot recommend her and only sunshine postpartum doula services enough.

With over 20 years of experience supporting families across six countries, I bring a deep understanding of the diverse ways cultures nurture parent-child relationships. My journey into birth work began as a Health Community Worker, advocating for immigrant Latino families in New York. Later, while working at a mental health agency in Connecticut, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact that nurturing, consistent, and responsive caregiving has on a child’s development. This realization fueled my passion for family support and led me to become a Birth and Postpartum Doula, ensuring families receive guidance and care from the very start of their parenting journey. Three years ago, I earned my certification in Perinatal Mental Health, allowing me to further support families through the emotional complexities of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Fluent in both Spanish and English, I am dedicated to creating a compassionate and culturally informed space for every family I serve.

Martha brought a level of joy, reassurance and experience to our daughters birth we didn’t even know we needed. Every step of the way through my pregnancy she checked in on me and provided the guidance I needed. Our birth changed pretty rapidly but Martha’s positivity and expertise made the entire experience more enjoyable. We were able to really focus on the birth while she helped guide those around us on decisions we made beforehand. Pregnancy doesn’t just stop after birth, the emotional and physical work continues after you’re home as well. Martha is there by your side through it all! She helped change my postpartum experience immensely, I cannot thank her enough. I will forever recommend The Knitting Doula!

As a birth and postpartum doula, I am honored to share my story with you. My commitment to supporting and empowering families during the transformative experience of childbirth is deeply rooted in my own origin story. I am originally from Laredo, Texas, a city on the Texas-Mexico border. Raised in Mexican-American upbringings, I grew up on the frontera, minutes from the border. I moved to New York City in 2009 to attend New York University’s Steinhardt’s School Counseling and Guidance program. After living in Manhattan and Queens, I moved to the suburbs, Peekskill, NY in 2020. My birth and postpartum doula journey began during 2022 when I recognized the need for comprehensive, inclusive and compassionate support for expectant parents. Drawing from my personal birth experience as a woman of color, a mother and extensive knowledge as a certified doula, I set out to create a space that celebrates the beauty and strength of childbirth. Thus, Mariposa Doula Care was born in 2022. Outside of my doula work, I am an avid advocate for immigration, holding space for the BIPOC community and dedicating time to community education. My devotion to fostering a positive birthing experience extends to empowering families with knowledge and resources, ensuring they embark on their parenting journey with confidence. When not immersed in the world of birth and postpartum care, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter and discovering new outdoor spots in Westchester County. I aim to provide doula care to all families, all backgrounds including but not limited to: BIPOC, single parents, LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent families.
