I’m a birth and postpartum doula serving families throughout the Baltimore, DC, Southern Pennsylvania, and Southern Maryland areas. My work is rooted in one core belief: when a mother is deeply supported, nurtured, and cared for, she is better able to care for her baby and step into motherhood with confidence and grace. I specialize in supporting mothers through some of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons of life — including high-risk pregnancies, birth trauma, postpartum mood disorders, hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), chronic illness, pregnancy after loss, and complex postpartum recovery. My background in psychiatric rehabilitation counseling allows me to bring a unique understanding of emotional health, nervous system support, and compassionate care into the birth world. My approach is deeply intuitive, trauma-informed, and mother-centered. I believe birth is not just a medical event — it is a life-changing human experience that deserves respect, advocacy, emotional safety, and individualized support. Whether I’m supporting a laboring mother through transition, helping a postpartum mother heal after a cesarean, assisting with feeding challenges, or simply making sure a family feels seen and cared for, my goal is always the same: to “mother the mother.” I offer both birth and postpartum doula services, including overnight and daytime support, prenatal education, emotional support, recovery guidance, feeding support, and practical care for growing families. I am especially passionate about helping women trust themselves again after difficult experiences and creating spaces where mothers feel safe, empowered, and genuinely held. Beyond my work with clients, I’m passionate about maternal mental health advocacy, improving the birth experience for women, and creating honest conversations around motherhood, healing, and the realities of postpartum life. My work combines evidence-based education with warmth, intuition, humor, and deep compassion. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that mothers deserve quality care. I believe birth deserves a positive, steady space—one where you feel peaceful, informed, and confident as you prepare to meet your baby. My goal is to support your inherent wisdom and help you feel grounded through planning, labor, and the early postpartum days. I’m known for being deeply empathetic, calm, and steady. I love naps, dark chocolate, and quiet time (I’m a self-proclaimed introvert, despite what people assume!). I was called to birth work after experiencing traumatic births, postpartum depression, and profound loss with little support. Through healing and therapy, I realized I wanted to be the kind of support I once needed—so families don’t have to go through hard seasons alone. I’m a “forever student” with an active mind, and I love bringing my trainings and tools into a supportive, practical approach that helps clients feel held and empowered. When I’m not supporting families, you can find me listening to audiobooks and podcasts, gardening, making art, and laughing at dad jokes.

Ashley was one of the best parts of my pregnancy and birth experience, and I cannot recommend her enough! From the very beginning, she was incredibly communicative, supportive, and reassuring throughout my entire pregnancy. She shared so many helpful resources including texts, videos, movies, and educational materials that made me feel informed, prepared, and empowered every step of the way. During labor and delivery, Ashley was an absolute rock. She supported me through every moment with such calm, confidence, and compassion. She helped guide me through different labor positions that truly helped my labor progress, and she always made me feel safe, heard, and supported. She was my biggest advocate in the room! Even when my birth plan changed when I ultimately needed to get an epidural, Ashley fully supported my decision without judgment and helped me feel confident in what I needed in that moment. She held me while I cried about it and celebrated my journey so far and what was to come. Ashley brought such a wonderful energy into the room. She is genuinely one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and she happens to have has an awesome sense of humor. She knew exactly when to keep things lighthearted and help us laugh, and she also knew when to help me focus and channel my energy during the toughest moments. One of the things I appreciated most was how supportive she was of my husband, too. She helped guide him in how to support me during labor when neither of us really knew what to do. She made him feel confident and included, and he absolutely loved Ashley as much as I did. I am eternally grateful for her support, kindness, knowledge, and presence during one of the most important experiences of my life. She is truly incredible! Mila couldn’t have been born without her help :)

Erica was an absolute lifesaver during the first six weeks of both of my children's births. As a newborn care specialist, she didn’t just help with the day-to-day care of the babies; she also educated me as a new mother, easing my anxieties in those overwhelming early days. She taught me everything from proper swaddling techniques to understanding my babies’ feeding cues and sleep patterns, all while being incredibly patient and reassuring. What stood out most was her ability to tune into my needs as a new mom. She recognized when I needed rest, emotional support, or just a little confidence boost. Erica’s approach was gentle and non-judgmental, creating a safe space for me to ask questions and learn at my own pace. Her presence helped me feel empowered, and her guidance has continued to influence the way I care for my children. I truly can’t recommend Erica enough for any new parent. Erica quickly became more than just a newborn care specialist; she is now considered family. Her warmth, expertise, and unwavering support made those early weeks so much easier, and we couldn't imagine those moments without her. If my husband and I were to have more children, we would undoubtedly want Erica's help again. She brought so much peace of mind to our lives, and her influence continues to guide how we parent today.

As a Trauma-Informed and Trauma-Responsive Doula and Childbirth Educator, I provide compassionate, whole-person support to individuals and families throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I recognize that personal history and previous healthcare experiences can influence how someone feels about pregnancy, birth or receiving care. With that understanding, I offer education, steady presence, practical guidance and encouragement of informed self-advocacy while respecting each client’s dignity and honoring their individual needs and values. I approach each relationship with respect for the client’s lived experience and autonomy. My care is guided by trust, collaboration, cultural humility and an understanding of how trauma can affect the body and mind. From the first prenatal visit through postpartum recovery, I help clients recognize situations that may cause distress, notice their body’s responses, prepare questions and communicate their preferences. Together, we develop personalized doula support plans for pregnancy, birth and postpartum that emphasize consent and comfort while reflecting the client’s informed decisions. My professional practice is grounded in ongoing learning and thoughtful reflection. I pursue advanced training in maternal care, trauma-responsive support, reproductive justice and perinatal mental health so my work remains informed by current evidence and ethical practice. Through this work, I aim to break cycles of intergenerational trauma and promote emotional resilience for every family I serve.

I'm still on cloud nine and appreciating all that Ms. Kristan has done for my wife and I. Never would I have imagined that we would find what she offers in value and service to support us in our Christian faith. She has changed our lives as new parents and how I see myself supporting my wife and newborn son. She was so gentle and comforting with my wife. She is the most patient woman I have ever met besides my wife and my wife is very patient. Everything we spoke of to advocate for, she gently reminded me of when we were preparing to give birth. I was able to help my wife in ways that I wished I could. My wife had the birth that she wanted and I believe that if we didn't have Ms. Kristan's support and wisdom we may not have been blessed to experience that. New dads need understanding and to learn how to support mom and she provided us with plenty of it.

Finding Melissa was one of the greatest gifts during my postpartum recovery. She truly became family to us. From the moment she walked into our home, she brought such a calming, loving presence that immediately put me at ease during one of the most vulnerable times in my life. Not only is she incredible with babies, but she also takes care of moms in a way that is hard to fully put into words. She helped ease my postpartum anxiety, encouraged me constantly, and made me feel supported, capable, and cared for every single day. She celebrated the wins with me, reassured me during the hard moments, and genuinely made my recovery experience so much more positive than I ever imagined it could be. She was amazing with our baby overnight, helped us establish routines, gave us confidence as parents, and somehow always knew exactly what we needed before we even had to ask. Getting real rest and knowing our baby was in such loving, capable hands was life changing. Melissa is not just a postpartum doula. She is a night angel, a support system, and one of the most special people we’ve ever welcomed into our home. I genuinely cannot recommend her enough. Any family would be beyond lucky to have her during such an important chapter of life.

Hi, I’m Gabrielle Taylor. I’ve been supporting mothers and newborns since February 2022, but my passion for women’s health began in my teenage years. I’m a proud mother of two—my children were born in 2017 and 2021. **I have teamed up with Danica Day to bring quality care and support to Frederick and the surrounding areas. You can read more about Danica here: https://www.dawnandduskdoulaco.com/** My first birth, a cesarean, was emotionally traumatic and left me feeling unsupported and unheard. In contrast, the birth of my second child was an empowering VBAC, made possible by the compassionate presence of an incredible doula. That experience was truly life-changing—it showed me the profound difference that informed, empathetic support can make. Now, my mission is to offer that same kind of transformative support to other families. Whether you're navigating your first birth or welcoming another child into your home, I’m here to help you feel confident, cared for, and connected. In today’s fast-paced world, motherhood can feel isolating—but I'm here to bridge that gap so you feel supported. I’m also currently pursuing my nursing degree to deepen my knowledge and enhance the care I provide as a doula. I’m honored to walk alongside you during this pivotal journey.

Gabby is amazing! Truly, she answered every question I had, supported our postpartum journey, explained everything throughly, had brilliant insight, talked through everything with me, and helped my little guy sleep in 4+ hour stretches every time! She is the baby sleep whisperer! Could not say nicer things about Gabby and her gentle care of not only my little guy, but my family as a whole. She truly made my whole postpartum journey so much easier!!
