About us: We’re a bilingual English-Russian couple, both Jewish and fairly agnostic. While religion isn’t central to our lives, we’d prefer someone who understands our cultural background—usually that’s other Jewish people or Christians. This will be our first baby, and we’re looking for someone who can help us prepare. Ideally, we’d like to start with a call to go over what to expect and how to get ready for labor. We also want someone to visit us at home on the second day after birth to walk us through feeding and basic newborn care. Longer-term, we’re open to ongoing support and possibly having someone with us during labor, depending on pricing. I’ve tried meditation and it doesn’t work for me, so I’d prefer other methods like breathwork, bathing, dim lighting, and moving intuitively. English is my second language, so clear pronunciation is important. And finally, we have a very active and friendly corgi, so being comfortable around dogs is a must.
