Hi, I’m Tanya. I offer holistic pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum doula support rooted in the belief that the entrance to motherhood is a sacred and rite of passage. Before becoming a mother, I immersed myself in learning about birth- to avoid unnecessary medicalization and coercion, and to truly understand the magic and wisdom of my own body. I quickly realized how much we’ve been taught to distrust our physiology, and how empowering it felt to relearn what is innate and ancient within us. My first birth, at home, was transformative. It opened my eyes to the power of personalized care and pushed me to dive fully into birthwork, so I could serve other women and families seeking a similar path. As a doula and childbirth educator with over 20 years of experience, I have come to learn that compassionate support is the most important thing I bring to birth. Close to 1000 births matters. Having taught 1000s of couples in childbirth classes matters. After my own experience with “postpartum anxiety & depression,” (which was really undiagnosed postpartum thyroiditis) I decided to become a functional practitioner to help other moms navigate common postpartum hormonal changes using a holistic approach. Conventional medicine often fails new moms by dismissing their concerns or offering pills as the only solutions to common (but not normal) symptoms like: anxiety, depression, irregular/heavy/painful periods, insomnia, hot flashes, etc. There are better options!
