Ziya was my daughter’s doula during the stillbirth of her child. Ziya, your support was what got us all through it. You were excellent, even in the worst of situations. You were so calm and comforting throughout the entire process. You are such an amazing human.

Ziya helped us through pregnancy, the birth of our baby girl, and with postpartum care. She was truly amazing during every part of our journey and she truly helped turn our birthing experience into this beautiful journey that I’m so happy she could be a part of. Ziya always communicated clearly and appropriately in person, and got back to us in a timely manner when we text or called with questions. She was also able to be our Postpartum Navigator through Build Your Nest which allowed us additional time with her since our insurance covers very limited services. During labor and delivery, I felt very supported. The counter pressure helped a lot. She also made sure I always had water and was breathing. She would also breathe with me, and that helped a lot. Ziya comforted my husband during the process and made sure he knew I was okay and that baby was okay when she could tell he was feeling a bit worried. It helped ease my worry, too, knowing that she was taking care of and communicating everything with him. She also captured the most beautiful photos of our time at the birthing center. I’ve already told everyone about how amazing she made the whole birthing experience and how I wish I could take her with me everywhere for whenever I decide to have another baby! Haha. In fact, we’ve already started saving for her future plane ticket. Ziya made me feel like I had/have the true support of a friend and someone who cares very deeply for my family. Nothing about her demeanor needs to be changed because I felt incredibly heard and comforted during the whole experience. Ziya, I cannot thank you enough for that support! We love you!! Thank you so much for being there for us!!

Ziya provided on-call labor and birth doula support. We had never met prior to my labor induction. From the moment she walked in my room, I immediately felt supported, calm, and at ease with her presence. She took the time to get to know me and my husband and provide education on how she would support me through my labor with counter pressure & other interventions, advocacy with the nurses and OBGYN, and how that would enable my husband to focus on more emotional support. When she arrived, my contractions were just starting to increase due to the use of pitocin, but labor had not fully started. With Ziya’s help, (utilizing inversions, hip loosening massages, and activity) my labor started to progress well. Her suggestions were delivered in perfect timing, from my perspective. She delivered wonderful prompts and communication throughout the labor process. I truly believe her support enabled me to continue unmedicated throughout my labor and delivery. In active labor, counter pressure and massage was especially helpful. Also, the breathing coaching and tips while pushing. She even took some wonderful photos of the delivery that are priceless! I am so grateful for her support! I don’t think I fully understood pre and postpartum support that could be provided. I would have pursued that further had I known how impactful Ziya would be. I wish my insurance supported postpartum doula support so that we could keep learning and growing with Ziya. Ziya, keep doing what you have been doing! I am already telling my friends how much I valued your support! I am eternally grateful!

We recently had the pleasure of having Ziya from DOYA Doula Collaborative as our doula. I was pregnant with my 3rd and just moved to the Astoria area. Not having any family or friends nearby left me in a pickle not knowing who would watch my two older children while I was giving birth. That’s where DOYA came into the picture. I reached out and let them know my wants and needs- sibling support being high on the list. They sent a couple of matches over and Ziya seemed like a great fit. My oldest is on the spectrum and she has experience with special needs children. Throughout the end of my pregnancy, I met with her a couple of times. She had lots of questions as to what I want and need from her. Fast forward to my birth and Ziya was amazing. She came and checked on me when I told her I was in early labor and was available for me at every turn. She beautifully juggled being a gentle hand on my shoulder when going through tough contractions and tending to my boys and their needs. I felt comfort in knowing she was focused on my boys so I could do the tough work of laboring without having to think about tending to my older kids. After I had my newest little boy she stayed at the birth center and continued to tend to me and my entire family. Going above and beyond to care for the boys, checking in on me and even holding the newest addition while we ate take out dinner at the birth center. I’m grateful she was able to be a part of my journey and attend the birth of my third baby coming Earth side.
