I’m the owner of Birthing Days Doula Services, a certified birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and infant sleep consultant serving families throughout the Portland metro area. With over eight years of experience and more than 250 births attended, I’ve had the privilege of supporting families through just about every kind of birth experience imaginable—from unmedicated births and epidurals to inductions, VBACs, cesareans, birth centers, and home births. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that no two births are alike, and your support shouldn't be either. **My philosophy is simple: Your birth, your choices, your experience. Kim and Lauren are a fantastic doula team. It was great working with both of them beforehand, and know that either one would be available when the big day came. Kim was wonderful to work with at the hospital, she really brought her experience, calm demeanor, and love for the job. There were hard parts that she helped talk me and my partner through. Kim was absolutely AMAZING!! We knew immediately after our initial zoom meet that we wanted her to be apart of our birth team. She not only supported me as a first time mom who was determined to have an unmedicated birth, but also supported my husband and made sure he was comfortable and ready to help support me during labor. She went over different labor positions and pain management tools to help me have the birth I wanted during our prenatal visits. She was easy to communicate with and checked in with us as we awaited the arrival of our little girl. When the beginning of our labor had a few curve balls thrown at us, Kim helped to keep us calm and understand everything that was going on. She brought a variety of tools and a equipment I used during my labor. She ensured that both myself and my husband were supported and had our needs met to ultimately have our dream unmedicated birth. Kim has been an incredible Doula throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum! She is there whenever you have questions (and there are always so many questions as a FTM!). I loved her calm, reassuring and knowledgeable presence. We took classes through her and we loved that they were in our house so we could really visualize bringing home our baby and learned SO much. We are so glad we found Kim and she made our entire experience go smoother and be less stressful. I wasnt sure if we needed a doula at first, but with our midwives changing so much we decided to go forward with it and instantly clicked with Kim's personality and style. Now we suggest a doula to all our friends and specifically Kim for people in our area. She answered all of our questions before, during, and after labor and helped us navigate through the conflicting internet advice. She helped me develop a birth plan and format it in a way that the medical team appreciated and followed. She showed my partner how to be helpful to me throughout the pregnancy, labor, and postpartum process which is definitely something we appreciate because I didn't know what I wanted or needed since this was my first child. I felt calm and safe doing the initial laboring at home because she was there to assure me that the things I was feeling were normal and to check on my contraction times to know when things were getting serious. We took her classes so we felt more prepared and it definitely helped us immensely. I can't say enough good things about Kim and how helpful she was! Kim at Birthing Days was exactly what I needed in a Doula for my pregnancy. From her friendly and cheerful attitude to her wealth of knowledge, she was a perfect fit for us. I had a lot of fear about giving birth and as the day got closer I knew I would start to stress about the "what ifs". I needed support that was less clinical than a doctor, but more professional than a friend. A Doula was the perfect fit for that need. Kim gave me lots of advice and mental exercises to help relieve some of my worries. It was so beneficial to have someone with so much experience to answer all the random questions that would pop into my head. Our interactions were all digital due to the pandemic, but the amount of support I got made it feel like we were meeting in person. When the day finally came (and I got to meet Kim in person finally) it was so far from what I envisioned my birth to be like that you would think I'd have panicked. Having Kim in the room with my husband and I was priceless. She was always calm and collected, helping us to understand and process everything going on. A person we could both lean on in our most trying moments. I know my birth would not have felt so positive at the time if she wasn't there with us. After the birth, she was quick to check in on us and today she feels more like an old friend than a hired Doula. I cannot recommend her highly enough if you are looking for a Doula for your birth.

Kim attended my birth as a doula, and her support to me while bringing my daughter into this world was and is such a gift to me and my family. Kim was there to cheer me on, support me and even take pictures of our birth for me. At one point in my labor when things had gotten incredibly intense, she held onto me so that I could stand and thus speed the labor on. Kim was very helpful during the pregnancy and delivery. She checked in regularly and gave us resources to prepare for the baby. We didn't have any family nearby to support us so it was important for us to have a doula like Kim. She was there for us when I went into labor on Christmas night. She never left our side at the hospital. She gave me a lot of good breathing and pain management techniques which helped me get through the contractions and labor without an epideral. I was so thankful for her labor ball - it was the best way for me to handle the pressure. She was very calm and empowering to my husband. Kim followed up with us throughout our time in the hospital and after returning home. I honestly don't think it would have been the same without her.
