I’m really nervous about labor and delivery. I want an epidural and am good with medical intervention. I’m nervous that my husband won’t be calm during the birthing process. I need someone who can help me be calm through it and help coach my husband through it. I also am nervous about being very vulnerable during birth and consent is very important for me and want to make sure I feel comfortable and not taken advantage of. Giving birth at Sibley I’m also very nervous about postpartum. This is my first pregnancy

Second baby due mid-October. Toddler will be in daycare. My husband will be home with me the first month or so, so looking for a daytime, postpartum doula two or three days a week for 3 hours at a time starting in mid/late November for one month or so. Budget is around $40/hour. Hoping for help with newborn care in addition to laundry and general tidying of living space. We have house cleaners every two weeks - just need help with picking up/tidying the toddler craziness in between.

I want support and finding alternative pain, relief for as long as possible before getting an epidural

I am looking for a doula that can be a support system as well as an advocate for me while I am in labor. I want to feel confident, know my rights and know that someone is there to speak up for me when I may be unable to or uncertain. I plan on having a birth plan created. I do not have an estimated budget as im not sure what that would be. But I do plan to try and use my insurance if possible.

I would like someone with at least 5 years' experience. I'm a 46-year-old first-time mom. My insurance provider is Carefirst BCBS. Doulas are a covered benefit. I have a BluePreferred PPO plan. I’m looking for additional support that is affordable for labor and potentially post-partum. My husband is amazing and will be there, but my research suggests that having a doula can help to avoid unnecessary C-sections and episiotomies. I am NOT looking to do a natural birth and my research concludes that I absolutely will want an epidural, as the benefits outweigh the labor pain risks for me. That being said, I want an advocate who understands birthing. Someone who will be able to communicate with the doctors in instances where I cannot. I can’t expect my husband to do all of this, and I may be incapacitated/not thinking straight. Looking for someone with experience supporting brown and black mothers, being our advocates, and standing up for us for our needs and wants. For example, I’d like to do a vaginal birth with an epidural, and be able to move around and be in the best position, whatever it takes for labor to go the most smoothly if it is uncomplicated. I also want to be sure that the baby received skin to skin contact from both me and my husband. Other than that, I’d like to simply learn more about the support I’d receive as well as potentially have someone with the right touch to provide massage or comfort during this time. This is my first child and I’d like to ease my anxiety as much as possible. I’d like to understand the types of support I could get for about $1,500 but we can discuss options. We plan to give birth at Georgetown University Hospital and I am currently a Medstar patient.

We’re moving midway through the pregnancy to the DC region, Maryland side. We’ll probably live in the Rockville area but I’m hoping to give birth with the midwives at George Washington University’s hospital. I’m looking for a labor doula to support an unmediated birth.
