From very early on, Alyssa gently guided me toward switching to a midwife practice within the hospital I was already planning to birth at. Because of that recommendation, I had a completely different pregnancy experience, one that felt supported, unrushed, and aligned with what I actually wanted as a Nurse Practitioner. I never felt pressured into induction, even at 41 weeks, which was incredibly important to me given my history. During labor, her presence made all the difference. She helped me stay out of the bed entirely until the very end, which was something I didn’t even realize would matter as much as it did. I was able to labor in the large tub, avoid IV fluids, and use wireless monitoring so I could move freely. When it came time to push, I followed my body, ending up on hands and knees rather than being directed onto my back. As someone with prior birth trauma and a cesarean, this birth could have gone very differently. I truly believe that without Alyssa, without her private education, and without her guidance in choosing the right care team and her countless hours of support in the hospital, my birth experience would not have been the same. She doesn’t just show up at the birth. She helps you build the foundation for a completely different kind of experience. I also have her to thank for my stress free postpartum and breastfeeding success. I’m not sure if we will have more children, but if we do, Alyssa will be my first call.

Alyssa is a wonderful Doula and Midwife. She was always attentive and Incredibly knowledgeable about all things pregnancy,birth and postpartum. If I were to have another baby, I know Alyssa would be my first call!

Alyssa has been my midwife for two of my pregnancies. After 3 hospital births, I was longing for a more magical experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better one. She is professional, but my favorite aspect is the relationship and friendships that she develops with the whole family. I felt very heard and in control of my entire pregnancy and birth with Alyssa. Alyssa is the best Doula and Midwife you could ever want. I’ve used her as a hospital doula 2 times and as a homebirth midwife 2 times. She’s worth her weight in gold, every single time. I was initially referred to her through my church, where countless moms have used her for either doula, midwife or both. Many of us have had experiences with other providers in the area, and Alyssa outperforms all of them. If she says she is going to do something , she does it, plus a bunch more that you don’t even expect or ask for. You won’t ever feel alone or without support using her. I have friends that still contact her to ask questions about their teenagers, that Alyssa witnessed being born. She’s so much more than a Doula or Midwife. If you hire her, you have a great friend for life that knows so much about so many things. Acts of service and kindness are her love language and you will see this from the moment you hire her.

We had such an amazing experience with Alyssa! She is very knowledgeable and helped us make informed decisions through my whole pregnancy. She was easy to get ahold of when needed. After an attempted home birth turned into a hospital birth, Alyssa was amazing as a doula in the hospital. She supported me and advocating for me how she knew I would want. After birth care and lactation support was also amazing. I never felt like we were lacking in anyway whatsoever by not doing things the “traditional OB/hospital” route. She was also so amazing and accommodating with my older children at home during all of my prenatal appointments. She specifically scheduled my last visit so all of my kids would be home so my 5 year old wouldn’t miss out on seeing her one more time. We truly were sad for our visits to end. I would recommend Alyssa 1,000x over to anyone!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t really get what a doula would do at first. I figured I’d just support my wife and go with whatever the hospital said. Having Alyssa there changed everything about our experience in comparison to our first son when we were on our own. She helped me actually know how to help, instead of just guessing. I felt way more confident during labor and not like I was just standing there. She kept things calm, helped us know when to go in, and made the whole experience feel a lot less stressful. At the hospital, she fit right in with the staff but still made sure my wife was truly supported. There were moments my wife started to doubt herself, and Alyssa knew exactly how to help her through it. Even after the birth, she checked in and made sure we were doing okay, which meant a lot.

After a hospital birth, with a lot of interventions, I knew I needed someone on my side to support me for my second. To say I got that support in Alyssa is an understatement. She was a wealth of knowledge, passionate about supporting families, and help walk with me through very serious feeding issues with my second. I was so influenced by her and my birth experiences, that I have been supporting midwives with graphic design and website needs for 12+ years. I have meet many wonderful midwives and doulas but Alyssa is absolutely one of the best.

I used Alyssa as my doula at Summa for my first baby. I had a very long labor due to being induced after my water broke early and she offered great support staying with me for a very long time. With my second baby, I decided to labor at home longer. I stayed just a little too long and had an accidental homebirth. Thankfully Alyssa was there and hopped into action as a Midwife, keeping me and my baby safe.
