I have been so blessed to have jobs I have loved all my life - wife, mother, grandmother, registered nurse, pregnancy care center director, lactation consultant and certified postpartum doula. It is hard to believe it has been over 50 years since nursing school. Though I would never have thought so in nursing school, my focus has always been all things moms, babies and families. ​This journey has taken me from basic knowledge of how babies are born to a deep respect of the profound changes that take place within the childbearing family, because we are so fearfully and wonderfully made.

I have 4 grown children, I was a sign language interpreter many years ago, and worked in a local church for 20 years. Dr. Heather (Chana) Gass holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology and has been involved in research and education for over a decade. When she was expecting her first child she knew she wanted to strictly breastfeed. After a traumatic birth her baby was taken to the NICU, and a challenging nursing journey began. Dr. Gass felt she was unprepared for initiating breastfeeding, pumping while the baby was in the NICU, and maintaining a strong milk supply. These struggles propelled her to learn more about lactation and become a lactation care provider, as a certified lactation counselor through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. Dr. Gass is committed to helping you initiate and sustain a strong breastfeeding connection with your baby. Dr. Gass provides comprehensive support through classes, prenatal education, and postpartum care to help you confidently initiate and sustain a strong breastfeeding relationship.

Being a Doula has brought much fulfillment into Jennifer’s life. As a Birth Worker, she enjoys being able to be a source of comfort and guidance for families. Seventeen years ago, she decided to become a birth & postpartum doula after working closely for years with her own grandmother, who was a midwife. It gave her the confidence and strength to pursue birth work. Her role as a birth worker allows her to provide the support parents and babies need in order to ease the transition into the amazing life of parenthood.  She is bilingual (English/Spanish) and is currently learning ASL.
