Looking for night time care for my new born. Soley night care, no other tasks. What does pricing look like?

I plan to give birth at BC Womens Hospital with a midwife. My budget for a doula is up to $2,000 maximum. I would like to stay home as long as possible before heading to the hospital for delivery. I don't have too many preferences for the provider, but it would be nice if they had experienced labour so they can guide me. I am 30, first time pregnancy, looking for emotional support and someone to be my advocate if needed.

Hi Nathalie, Our little girl has been having some issues at the breast since the day she was born on July 21st. She either is a) too comfortable that she falls asleep or b) too irritated that she won’t take. The great thing is her mom is producing a great amount of colostrum and her milk has started coming in. We just came home from the hospital for the first time on July 24th evening and had a rough night with our daughter crying and unwilling to feed. At the hospital, she did lose 12% of her body weight which caused us to stay an extra night and monitor her feeding. We had to top up her feeds with formula as well as pumped colostrum/milk but my wife would love to exclusively breastfeed and bottle feed later with beast milk. We are first time parents looking for a post-partum doula to support us in the transition into parenthood to promote positive mental health. Starting with the nitty-gritty, working with someone who is willing to take proactive health precautions is non-negotiable due to mum's and baby's exposure to immunosuppressant medications - doctor's orders! We are looking to use funding via the Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program, but are open to self-funded options if the right fit comes along.
