About Bex

Hello! I’m Bex, The IVF Doula. I’m a birth doula based in Hastings, East Sussex. After many years trying to create my own family, I gave birth at home on the sofa to my bouncy, smiley son who was conceived through IVF (and a lot of love). After this experience I trained as a birth doula with Developing Doulas and now spend the majority of my time thinking, talking and breathing all things birth. I work with people across the full range of reproductive experiences, but with a focus on my specialism – working with those who have undergone (or are undergoing) IVF or assisted conception. As a doula I provide unwavering, non-judgemental support, information, resources and advocacy, as well as a healthy dose of help to navigate the many systems you might encounter on your journey. My goal is to support you to feel safe and heard and to ensure that you are able to make informed choices about your care and have these choices respected. I am passionate about ensuring that women and birthing people have full choice and control over what happens to their bodies. I also love teaching all about how amazing the body is to help bust fear and anxiety around birth. Being a doula is the perfect melting pot of all of my passions and experience and is where I combine my obsession with birth and reproductive rights with my many years of experience in trauma-informed advocacy and support for women and birthing people. I bring a gentle, choice-based and feminist approach to birth, as well as strong advocacy skills.

Birth Doula packages and pricing

Virtual Birth Doula (available internationally)

No matter where you are in the world, I offer virtual doula support to help you prepare for the birth of your baby. This includes 2-3 online antenatal sessions, being on-call for your birth from 38 weeks of your pregnancy and then providing telephone support for you during early labour and until your birth team arrives or you transfer to your chosen place of birth. We will also meet online for a birth debrief/postnatal session once you are ready.

£950 GBP · Flat rate

In Person Birth Doula (available internationally on discussion)

3 x antenatal sessions to discuss your birth preferences, get educated and be supported as needed, being on-call for your birth from 38 weeks of pregnancy and full support throughout your labour from when you need me until your baby arrives and you are settled and ready to be left to get to know each other. Also included is an in-person postnatal/birth debrief session.

Bespoke packages: IVF Doula (available internationally)

I offer virtual doula support, particularly to those who have conceived via IVF or assisted conception to support them throughout pregnancy and birth-planning and to ensure that they feel safe and heard and to ensure that you are able to make informed choices about your care and have these choices respected. Packages are charged hourly and designed to meet the clients individual needs. Please enquire

What to expect

I offer both in-person and remote support to families wishing to feel safe, confident and in control of their care throughout conception, pregnancy, birth and beyond. I work with people across the full range of reproductive experiences, but with a focus on my specialism - working with those who have undergone (or are undergoing) IVF or assisted conception. What if I can't see the package for me?

Don't worry! It's super normal for me to work with clients to design a package that works for them. Just get in touch and we can create something bespoke and beautiful that suits your needs.

Why IVF?

It's my passion! Having had my own experience of infertility and IVF and having supported clients with these experiences too, I see the additional anxiety that can sometimes come with a pregnancy conceived through assisted conception. I also see the ways in which maternity systems sometimes don't meet the needs of these families and so I'm on a mission to improve things for families growing through IVF and assisted conception.

Are you qualified?

I trained as a birth doula with Developing Doulas and have since undergone Doula UK's mentoring process and become a 'recognised' birth doula. This means that Doula UK have recognised that I have sufficient experience to practice as a doula without ongoing mentoring and supervision. I am always learning and no doubt if we chat I will bore you silly with details of the latest training course I have been on.
