Antasia Mccray

I am a mother to a 5 year old and have loved children since I was a child myself. I have always been someone who enjoys helping people. I started on the path towards nursing, earning my Associate’s degree in Fall of 2022. After mostly completing my degree in summer of 2022, I realized my personality wouldn't shine in nursing. I am more empathetic and personable, which lead me to becoming a doula. I started with birth doula in August and it opened my eyes to my passion for birthwork. Shortly after, I took the postpartum doula workshop. That led me to also taking infant CPR, and earning a certified lactation support counselor as well. I am looking forward to sitting for the Lamaze CBE exam Fall of 2023. I have worked with families both prior to these certifications and currently and I can’t wait to explore and learn more

Antasia was an incredible support for my husband and I when we needed overnight care for our newborn. After interviewing many people, we had been turned off by those who were strict about their approach and seemed to want to impose their practices on our family. As new parents, we needed tenderness and flexibility—someone who would care for our son at night and allow us to sleep peacefully knowing our son was safe and being tended to the way we choose to raise him. Antasia was a calm and responsive presence, working with us to adapt to changes as our newborn developed and we grew as parents. She was always on time and communicated proactively in the rare instance there was a scheduling issue. At the start of every visit she asked us what changed and what was new, which was helpful as newborns change on a weekly basis and so did our approach. We were always at peace knowing Antasia was coming. I also was able to recover from insomnia due to Antasia’s presence and my confidence in her to look after our child while we slept. Our only regret was not meeting her sooner so we could have had her with our family on day 1 coming home from the hospital.

As a birth doula based in central NJ, my practice is influenced by my experience as a massage therapist for over 30 years. I have broad understanding of the physical challenges facing pregnant and postpartum individuals. I’m certified as Body Ready Method™ professional to address body alignment issues during pregnancy, which can result in a more optimal labor and birth. I also teach an in-person Body Ready Birth™ workshop for birthers and their partners to practice labor positions that can ease the baby’s journey through the pelvis. I prepare my clients with tools to calm their nervous system and release their fears using Hypnobirthing meditations and breathing techniques. As an integral part of the birth team, I provide educational resources, in-person prenatal/postpartum visits and compassionate care during active labor and birth.

I worked with Elyse when I was pregnant with my second child. I had a relatively uncomplicated labor/delivery with my first child but felt unprepared for the exhaustion brought on by labor. While my hope was to have an unmedicated labor and delivery, both my husband and I were so tired and overwhelmed that we opted for the epidural. For this second birth experience, I wanted a doula to help prepare my mind and body for labor and delivery so I could fulfill my desire of an unmedicated birth experience. From our first meeting, it was apparent Elyse is passionate about supporting women and their partners through pregnancy and childbirth. She made me and my husband feel comfortable and was always prepared with resources from evidence based sources to answer our questions. I felt confident in achieving my goals as the due date approached knowing we would have Elyse’s support for the birth. Ultimately, we had an unexpected home birth but Elyse met us at the hospital afterwards and offered her support in those first hours. She also visited me at home a few weeks after the birth and offered additional resources for breastfeeding and postpartum recovery. It was a pleasure working with her and it is clear she cares about her clients.

Curbeth Tappin

Hi my name is Curbeth Tappin founder of Embrace a New Love postpartum services. I am a postpartum doula with 13 years of experience, providing exceptional care to families during the perinatal period. My journey into this field was inspired by my upbringing in a household with a mother who was a midwife, where I witnessed the miracle of birth and recognized the need for more support for both the birthing parent and baby during the postpartum period. As a postpartum doula, I offer comprehensive support to new mothers, including lactation assistance and daily infant care such as feeding and bathing. When working overnight, I ensures the baby's sleep environment is safe and maintains a detailed journal of sleep and feeding patterns. Trained by DONA International, I am well-equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent care to both newborns and parents. My passion for postpartum care shines through in my dedication to helping families navigate this transformative time with comfort and confidence.

Curbeth Tappin helped my family. Curbeth was the postpartum doula for my sister a few years before I got pregnant with my 4th child. My sister recommended that I hire her because of how much she helped her with her daughter. Curbeth came into my home after my son’s birth and had the nursery completely organized. She assisted me to acclimate the older children with the new baby. She allowed me to rest while she took care of my son. Although I had 3 other children this time breastfeeding was a bit of a struggle. Curbeth provided lactation support as well as emotional support, which I needed to get through that difficult period. She stayed and worked with my family for 3 month. A couple months later i found out I was pregnant with my 5th and last child. Curbeth returned and provided the same amazing support she provided the first time. Having 2 child under 2 years old was a very difficult, but Curbeth made this so much easier. Her patients and loving nature made her feel like part of the family. I know that any family she works for will receive the best support ever.

Christina was absolutely amazing throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. She was always available when I needed her and made me feel incredibly supported and cared for. My birth ended up being very traumatic, and having Christina there as a source of comfort and support meant more to me than I can express. She continued to be there for me postpartum as well, always checking in and answering my questions. I’m so grateful she was part of my journey and would recommend her to any expecting mom.

Hi New Parents & Returning Parents, My name is Anjanette Rebecca. I’m birth obsessed & I finally have the courage to admit it. I’m a little of a lot of things. I’m a full spectrum doula who supports families and individuals across all walks of life. From zygote to 130 years old. Reproductive health is who I am. Bodily autonomy is what I’ve supported since I was a child. I stepped into my mother’s shoes at an early age. My mother was the original reproductive health guru. My mom passed away before I had time to say goodbye. Grief became the catalyst that changed my life for the best. I meet Individuals and families that are kind enough to trust me with something so sacred. That will always be one of the biggest blessing in my life. I’ve cared for thousands of clients locally & internationally. My ultimate goal is YOU. Your family, your very valid fears, your tears & your happiness. I guide expectant families and individuals in embodying their role as the first teacher in their children’s life. Our body is our children’s first home, it will and always should be respected. Dads, that includes you. Your little one finds comfort in your presence before they’re even born. Your voice and kisses will be one of your child’s favorite things. My business & my baby, Birth & Beyond, NYC is an extension of my family; fellow educators like myself, with a combined 206 years of supporting vulnerable populations in New York City. In October 2026, I will celebrate 26 years in the healthcare industry, 18 years as a registered nurse. It’s an honor to be a part of birth, an intimate time for families to come together. I navigated my first pregnancy alone-there’s so much power in being a single parent too. I’m here to hold individuals & families through one of the most breathtaking and potentially chaotic moments of their lives. Parenthood is a massive upgrade and a heroic space to hold. Please don’t let the internet scare you. It scares me! But we have access to so much information. It is normal to feel overwhelmed by it. I pray that you enter pregnancy & your birth space with confidence. Tap me in if you need someone to kick the door off its hinges, metaphorically speaking of course :) As for me, I’m a Brooklyn native, currently enjoying life in Staten Island, NY. I spend most my time having juicy conversations, tending to 179 indoor plants, barefoot & not pregnant :) I spend time off social media, reading books and finding myself in nature. I truly can’t recommend Linda enough! I hired her around the beginning of my second trimester, and she was such a wonderful source of support throughout the rest of my pregnancy journey. From helping me feel more informed and prepared for birth to answering my questions and talking through my concerns, Linda was always patient, supportive, and reassuring. She helped me better understand my options when it came to labor and delivery, talked with me about comfort and coping techniques, and made sure I felt confident making decisions that were right for me. One of the things I appreciated most was knowing I had someone I could reach out to when I had questions or simply needed reassurance. Pregnancy can come with so many emotions and uncertainties, and having that extra support made such a difference for me. Linda genuinely cares about the moms and families she works with, and I’m so grateful that she was part of my pregnancy journey. If you’re considering having a doula for prenatal, birth, or postpartum support, I absolutely recommend reaching out to her. ❤️
