Erica Brown is a Perinatology nurse and now FNP-C who worked in the delivery room for over 20 years, with foundations in maternity, infant and child care. She is certified by the National Nurses Corporation (NCC) in Maternal Newborn Care, and electronic fetal monitoring. She is also an IBCLC, board certified lactation consultant, and a certified childbirth educator. Erica worked closely with the World Health Organization in support of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative which protects, supports and promotes breastfeeding worldwide. Hello Mamas! I am Ashley and I am so glad that you have found my lactation profile. I am a caring and compassionate lactation consultant that was inspired to enter lactation consulting after my first failed attempt to breastfeed my oldest daughter. After diving into breastfeeding education, I successfully breastfed my youngest son for sixteen months with the help of an amazing lactation consultant (see, even lactation consultants need lactation consultants). In 2020, I completed a Doctorate of Public Health degree where my research focused on breastfeeding success. For the past six years, I have been working in higher education, while volunteering for a breastfeeding organization. In September of 2020, I sat for and passed the IBCLC exam. I am also a certified lactation educator and provide prenatal educational classes. She has extensive experience in both filed. Patricia is a long-standing member of her professional organizations -ILCA and USLCA. She is active in NYLCA and The Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition. She is on the board of the International Consortium of Ankylofrenula Professionals. She has published and spoken internationally on a number of topics ranging from the use of nipple shield to the question of tongue tie being a “fad” Her focus when working with a family is to provide research-based information so that they can make an informed decision for themselves and their family.
