Dedicated Birth and Postpartum Doula, while pursing a nursing degree during my labor and delivery clinical I knew this was my passion to provide compassionate support throughout the birthing process and postpartum. As a certified doula, I bring a wealth of 15 years experience and expertise to every birth and postpartum service, fostering a nurturing and informed environment for birthing individuals and their partners. My journey into birth work began with a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of childbirth and the importance of holistic support during this profound life event. With an open mind for hospital settings and pain relief when needed. I have supported numerous families through various birthing experiences, including hospital births and home births. Allowing couples to have a safe and informative space to relax and have their birth be just as intimate as they'd like. Natural hormones are key into relaxing mom! Music, sound and lighting plays a part in allowing that intimacy to play out. This sets the tone for a calm postpartum recovery onto healing and adaptation to a new routine. My approach to doula care is centered around empathy, education, and advocacy. I have worked seven years as an investigator for medical malpractice and seen what goes wrong when women aren’t allowed informed consent. I am committed to ensuring that each client feels empowered, informed, and respected as they navigate the journey of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. My goal is to provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support, tailoring my services to meet the unique needs and preferences of each individual and family whether it be medicated or unmedicated. All women deserve the right to make informed decisions based on there individual needs. Also being a certified life coach for five years has gifted me with the skills to help families navigate through postpartum, new routines/added or changed. But most importantly to give clients the support they need to not feel alone or overwhelmed during these times. Normalizing chaos and not feeling okay, but empowering them to know that they can and will get through these times and they will adjust. While also providing them with lactation support whatever that may be for each families preference. With a warm and nurturing presence, coupled with a steadfast commitment to my clients, I strive to create a positive and empowering birth and postpartum experience that will be cherished for a lifetime. Whether providing emotional support during labor, advocating for informed decision-making, or offering guidance and or resources in the postpartum period, teaching newborn care and up keeping self care. I am forever honored to be a part of each family's unique journey into parenthood. I take great pride in working with woman giving them the care and support they need to trust their mind, body and soul.

She is an excellent advocate who is generous with her time and knowledge, ensuring that both the birthing and support parent were in a good position for the birth experience - before, during, and after. As first-time expecting parents there was a lot to learn even with regard to terminology, medical situations, and the outcomes that we wanted to achieve. Alisha's confidence makes you confident. She's great under pressure and remained communicative throughout our delivery. You can't control how things will unfold on the big day. While we had our best-case scenario planned out, things evolve and we were pressed to navigate changing circumstances when my water broke without any other signs of active labor. This put us on a countdown clock yet we remained calm, opted into certain interventions on our timeline, and were able to achieve the vaginal delivery as intended. We credit this to our preparation and real-time guidance with Alisha. Lastly, Alisha just has a great personality and treats you as a real friend. She genuinely cares about you as more than just clients and we looked forward to our time spent with her. We strongly recommend working with Alisha for any of the services that she offers!

Lisa was exactly what we needed when our baby was born. As first time parents, we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. We were overwhelmed and tired and needed a lot of guidance. Lisa not only took unbelievable care of our baby, but she took care of us too. Focussing on my post-partum needs and making sure that I was doing and healing well, while simultaneously caring for our baby with the highest quality of care, was exactly what Lisa did for the 7 weeks she spent with us. She taught us as she did, making sure that when it was time to say goodbye, my husband and I felt confident and well-grounded with a solid foundation and a deep understanding of how to care for our baby. She was also extremely easy to have around which made the newborn trenches a little more enjoyable. We love Lisa, she'll be back for the next one!

I believe birth is a journey, not a medical event to be managed. My role as your midwife is to walk beside you: to listen, to guide, and to protect your right to make informed choices about your body, your baby, and your birth. I began my career in 2006 as a NICU nurse, caring for the tiniest and most fragile newborns. In 2009 I became a midwife, first serving families at a community medical center and a community hospital. That background shaped how I practice today. I deeply trust the normal process of birth, and I am clinically ready when birth needs more support. I have attended births at home and in the hospital, and I know how to bridge the two calmly and safely. Almost ten years into my career as a midwife, I became a mama myself, and my two boys taught me more than any textbook. With my first son, I planned a homebirth. When labor needed more support, I transferred to the hospital and gave birth by cesarean. I know firsthand the disappointment, the grief, and the strength it takes when birth doesn't go as planned. With my second son, I had a successful VBAC at home. That birth brought healing and reminded me how powerful our bodies are. I have been on both sides of the bed. I understand what it means to hope for a certain kind of birth, to need a change of plans, and to come back and birth again with confidence. Whether you're planning your first homebirth, hoping for a VBAC, or healing from a past experience, I will meet you with honesty, safety, and deep respect for your journey. What I offer • Full-scope homebirth midwifery: prenatal, birth, and postpartum care • Hybrid prenatal care with in-office visits and home visits from 37 weeks (or home visits throughout) • VBAC support and counseling • In-office ECV (turning) for breech babies • The Hospital Birth Bridge Program: in-home labor assessment and support for families planning a hospital birth, so you arrive at the right time • Lactation visits with a Certified IBCLC: in-home or in-office help with latch, supply, pumping, and feeding challenges • GYN wellness care: annual exams, preconception care, birth control, and hormone health from your teens through menopause • Childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care classes • Postpartum recovery and whole-woman care through my sister practice, ReGlo Aesthetic & Wellness

If you wish to contact me and schedule an appointment, please visit my website https://thelaborlounge.org/contact/ Ines Serna is a mother, childbirth educator, and doula with a Master of Health Sciences in Public Health. She became interested in pregnancy and the birth process after having her first child in 2010. Shortly after, Ines started working for the childbirth education department at a prestigious Bergen County hospital, where she gained a great deal of knowledge about maternity services. After the birth of her second child in 2014, she decided to become a childbirth educator. Through her two birth experiences, she realized that the power of knowledge can have a positive impact on birth outcomes. While working as a childbirth educator at the hospital, Ines saw the necessity of giving additional support to her clients. She has trained with DONA International to obtain all the required skills to assist mothers during the birth process. Ines is dedicated to expanding her knowledge by attending maternal and child health conferences, seminars, and networking with health professionals in the community. Ines’s extensive hospital experience has allowed her to see and understand the need to continue advocating for patient-centered care. She believes a patient’s personal preferences, such as values, cultural traditions, family support, and lifestyles, must be taken into consideration. Ines is passionate about supporting expectant parents by making sure they understand that they have options before, during, and after birth. She firmly believes that EVERY woman deserves a good support network. A network that consists of health professionals, along with family, friends, and, of course, the support of a doula, is the greatest gift parents can experience in their lifetime. I cannot say enough good things about Simone as our night doula and lactation consultant. From the moment she entered our home, she brought a sense of calm, compassion, and expertise that made an immediate difference in our postpartum experience. As a second-time mom navigating recovery, sleep deprivation, and feeding challenges, her presence was nothing short of a gift. She supported our entire family with such gentleness and professionalism. Her overnight care allowed us to get desperately needed rest, knowing our baby was in kind, capable hands. Her lactation guidance was equally invaluable. She offered evidence-based support with zero judgment—troubleshooting tummy issues, providing reassurance, and giving practical tools that worked. Thanks to her help, I went from overwhelmed and in pain to confident and empowered. I did not feel a bit of judgment when I chose to go from breastfeeding to formula due to my baby's tummy issues. She listened deeply, responded thoughtfully, and truly respected our parenting values. She didn’t just care for our baby—she cared for us. If you're looking for someone who is not only highly skilled but also emotionally attuned and reliable, I wholeheartedly recommend Simone. She’s an absolute gem and a vital part of our early parenting story.
