About Tamar

Here's a professional bio you can use for networking groups, your website, speaking events, or referral introductions: My name is Tamari Soosi, and I am the founder of Doda Doula (dodadoula.org). I am a birth doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and lactation support professional dedicated to helping families feel informed, supported, and confident throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and infant feeding. My passion for birth work began through my love of supporting families and caring for children. Over the years, I realized I wanted to provide deeper support during the transition into parenthood, which led me to pursue professional training in birth support, childbirth education, postpartum care, and lactation. I continue to expand my knowledge through ongoing education in trauma-informed care and women's health. As a doula, I believe every family deserves evidence-based information, compassionate support, and the opportunity to make informed decisions that align with their values and goals. I am especially passionate about helping families build confidence, reduce fear, navigate challenges, and feel empowered throughout their parenting journey. My skills include emotional and physical labor support, comfort measures, birth planning, partner preparation, advocacy, postpartum recovery support, newborn care education, breastfeeding and feeding guidance, and creating a calm, nonjudgmental space where families feel heard and respected. My approach is warm, honest, trauma-informed, and centered on meeting each family where they are. Through Doda Doula, my goal is to ensure that no parent feels alone as they navigate one of life's most meaningful transitions. 🤍

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if your the right fit?

The best way to know if I'm the right fit is through a consultation. Birth is a deeply personal experience, and the relationship between a family and their doula should feel comfortable, supportive, and built on trust. You may be a good fit for my support if you're looking for a trauma-informed, evidence-based doula who values informed decision-making, compassionate care, and personalized support. I strive to create a judgment-free space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. In addition to my direct support, I am actively involved in mentorship programs and several large professional doula communities. This means you don't just benefit from my knowledge—you also gain access to the collective experience, resources, and professional support of a broader network of birth professionals. My goal is to ensure you feel supported, informed, and confident throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.

What exactly do you do?

As your doula, I provide emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. During pregnancy, I help you prepare for birth through education, birth planning, comfort measures, and answering questions. During labor, I provide continuous support, encouragement, advocacy, positioning suggestions, comfort techniques, and help your partner feel confident in supporting you. After birth, I check in on your recovery, feeding journey, and transition into parenthood. I do not replace your medical team or provide medical care. Instead, I work alongside your providers to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered to make the decisions that are right for you and your family.

Why chose me as your doula?

Choosing a doula is about finding someone you trust to support you through one of life's most important transitions. My approach is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and centered on your unique needs, values, and goals. I am committed to ongoing education and professional growth through mentorship, continuing education, and active participation in several large doula and birth professional communities. When you work with me, you're not only benefiting from my knowledge and support—you also gain access to the collective wisdom, resources, and professional networks I am connected to. This allows me to stay current on best practices, collaborate with experienced birth professionals, and provide well-rounded support throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, heard, and supported every step of the way.

What is your philosophy on birth?

I believe birth is a deeply personal experience, and every family deserves respectful, compassionate, and individualized support. My role is not to make decisions for you, but to provide evidence-based information, emotional encouragement, physical comfort measures, and advocacy so you can make informed choices that align with your values and goals. My approach is trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and family-centered. I support all types of births and strive to create a calm, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I believe that when families are given knowledge, support, and space to trust themselves, they are better able to navigate birth with confidence and strength. Above all, I want you to feel that your voice matters, your choices are respected, and you are never alone throughout your journey.
