A healer. A dreamer. A believer. A Risk taker. I see the world from many different perspectives which strengthens my intuition and drives me. Giving back to the world has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Whether I am giving the world entertainment or caring for individuals, whether they are four legged or two legged. I am most fulfilled when I am serving. Helping earthlings to heal their mind, body and spirit with support, education, meditation, and healing body products. As a doula, my genuine nature is to be a supporter and healer to those who need assistance strengthening their support system or those who do not have a support system.

Hi ! My name is Shane and I am the Melanated Mermaid Doula Services. I am a trained Fullspectrum Doula with a focus on Birth and Holistic Fertility. I have a love for birth and preparing for the beautiful event. My passion with working with expectant families is to help them connect with one another, prepare and feel confident during and after their births. I want the people I work with to gain a confidence with their bodies but also feel safe and secure in advocating for their needs during pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I have a passion for nutrition and movement so I am sure to include different health measures and these two factors in my services as well. I have a degree in Psychology from Syracuse University and take what I learn from my formal training in the classroom and incorporate it in how I handle and care for my growing families during our time together. I love to laugh and bring joy in homes of the people I work with and hope that along with educating you on your body and body's super powers I can also bring comfort and confidence on this birth journey.

I usually say I accidentally fell into the field of birth work, but I guess that's not totally true. After spending a decade abroad running a foster home/cardiac surgery program for babies with complex congenital heart defects and maternal/fetal health programs for at-risk indigenous families, I unexpectedly found myself stuck in New York City in early 2020, waiting out this little bug called "Covid-19" that was shutting borders all around the world... I certified as a birth & postpartum doula in the USA in 2020, to be with my best friend for the birth of her first child in the midst of Covid protocols. I never could have imagined how much I would fall in love with birthwork here in the United States and it is the greatest honor to walk alongside families as they grow and change (in whatever capacity!), providing unbiased & judgment-free support, advocacy, guidance, and care during such intimate and pivotal moments.

My best friend asked me to be "her doula" 17 years ago. I flew to LA and planned to be there for 10 days in hopes the baby would come in that window of time. I sang and whispered into her belly and Introduced myself to her baby. We had quite a time during the labor as her midwives guided her through the experience. She was incredible! She chose a home birth which ended at the hospital. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Witnessing the birth was transcendent and inspiring! When I flew back to NYC, I vowed that when our youngest daughter was in college, I would become a Doula. I grew up in Minnesota. I graduated with a BFA from the acting program at the University of North Carolina School of the Performing Arts. I have a background in dance, singing, yoga and martial arts. I was an American Council of Exercise certified personal trainer for 12 years. When I became pregnant, becoming a certified prenatal trainer was ideal. I especially loved working with all my pregnant clients. Having an online health and wellness business with Arbonne International has been another passion of mine. Over the years, I have coached a team on how to build their own online businesses and shared this opportunity in a public speaking setting for large groups. I teach my clients the benefits of aligning with a vegan brand they can trust and the value of choosing a B corporation, and living a more green lifestyle. I am a certified Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula with the International Doula Institute. I am also certified as a Perinatal Nutrition Educator, Birth Educator and Lactation Counselor. I hold a certification in Diversity Equity and Inclusion. I am also first aid, AED/CPR certified for pediatric and adults through the Red cross. Being present, and relying on my emotional intelligence, knowledge and discernment, helps me to navigate how to best listen and anticipate a person's needs. I embody joyful humor as my way to serve others. I bring warm energy, passion and authenticity to the people I spend time with. I'm a lifelong student who loves to learn, grow and collaborate. I believe these qualities, as a birth team member, contribute to the overall outcome and experience of all involved. I live in Harlem with my husband. We have two daughters. Hobbies: singing in choir, biking, and lifting weights. I also enjoy baking, reading and traveling. I love conversations over dinner with my husband and friends, and going to the theater and jazz clubs. Walking in nature each day is key to living in my joy, and of course, fitting as many plants and flowers into our home as humanly possible!

My experience as a Doula dates back to when I supported family and friends, unknowingly providing post-partum and supportive care. I've worked in the healthcare field for 15 (+) years at various hospitals & clinics, specifically in women's reproductive health. Having worked in both the private & public sectors of healthcare, I realized I wanted to not only support but advocate for those who could not speak out for themselves, all while being a source to women that needed resources. I didn't realize that all of this would bring me full circle to my purpose of becoming a doula! I've worked with women and families, providing evidence-based support for labor, post-partum, mental, & spiritual needs. During the 4th trimester (postpartum) Not only will I support and offer education as to what to expect for yourself during this physically and emotional time but I will also help you understand your newborn developments and milestones. No pregnancy or postpartum is ever the same; I encounter each one with an open mind & and heart, giving you the support that I know will put your mind at ease.

Hi Everyone, I'm Ashley, a Afro-Dominican & Puerto Rican mother to a 13 year old boy and a Certified Full Spectrum Doula and Lactation Counselor. Throughout my career, I have had the honor of supporting 25 families and counting during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey, helping them navigate all the transitions of bringing new life into the world. My passion for supporting families during this transformative time began when I experienced the birth of my own child. I realized the profound impact a skilled and compassionate doula can have on ones birthing experience because although I wasn't able to have a doula for my birth, I was able to teach myself and those supporting me the role of a doula during birth, which allowed me to achieve all of my birth goals. Through this passion, I have dedicated myself to supporting families through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum in a way that is personalized, empowering, and non-judgmental. I believe in creating a safe and nurturing space that allows families to make informed decisions and feel supported throughout their process. My approach is grounded in evidence-based research and tailored to the needs of each family. I provide emotional, physical and advocacy support as well as evidence-based education and access to resources you may need to help encourage a positive and fulfilling birth and postpartum experience. I am committed to continuing my education and professional development to ensure that I am providing the most up-to-date and effective care possible. Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, or a birth center delivery and/or you're just looking for postpartum support, I am here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve your ideal birth and postpartum experience.

Joan is one of several doulas in her family. Her interest stemmed from being left alone in a hospital room with no one to assist or comfort her until she was ready to push (her spouse and brother who had accompanied her were told to go home because she was not in active labor, 40 years ago; five hours later she delivered a 9 pound 2 ounce baby vaginally). Her first experience as a doula was assisting a family member in labor 25 years ago. She continued helping family and friends over the years until she decided to become a certified birth doula through DONA. As a holistic birth and post-partum doula, she has had extensive training. Joan's education includes: Family Development Credential, Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Centre For Homeopathic Education, Calm Birth Instructor Trainer, Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, Certified Infant Massage Instructor Trainer, Womb Sauna Practitioner, post-partum training with Indigemama, BirthMama and Birth Arts International. Her approach is to follow the lead of the laboring person, not have preconceived notions and to be as fluid and flexible as possible to address each person's individual needs as they arise. In addition to having a private doula practice, Joan also works as a community doula with the By My Side Birth Support Program, a federally funded program under Healthy Start Brooklyn offering doula care to underserved families in zip codes with the highest infant mortality and maternal morbidity rates.

Hey loves! I’m Michellee, a full spectrum doula serving most of NJ, NYC & Virtually. Being the oldest daughter of 7 siblings I naturally activated my mother instincts at a young age. I remember being 13 or 14 and always enjoyed watching A Baby Story. I would tell myself that I wanted to be an Ob but after watching, the Business of Being Born,I knew I was meant to be a Midwife. I’ve birthed 4 precious babies naturally and on my own terms! 3 of my births being in a hospital and my 4th being an unassisted home birth. I have been apart of the doula world since 2017, assisting families taking control of their births and their postpartum journeys. My ultimate goal is to be an amazing midwife serving all families in my community. Being a woman of color my mission is to educate women like myself on the fact that they too can have a calm and relaxing birth and postpartum period. I have over 12 years of breastfeeding experience both from personal experience and training. I am certified by the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. I enjoy living my life on the holistic side. I may offer you a tea instead of an aspirin. Lol I am fluent in both English, Spanish and some Portuguese. I pride myself in being super informative and educational, like a walking birth world encyclopedia or birth world Siri. Some of my hobbies including, reading, visiting any body of water, hanging out with family and karaoke. I have experience with vbac, home births, hospital births, inductions, and csections. I have assisted postpartum families struggling with feeding, Postpartum Depression/Anxiety, and single parent homes.
